it depends on when you've sent in the application I think.

logically speaking, they should start arriving in people's mail by tomorrow (for those who's already put in the order prior to today)

Even if u got a B+ in the exam it's still possible to get 40 ss, however u need to score a high A + end of year.

Considering Bs to be just slightly above average, you would probaly be expecting 32-34.

Not necessarily, from what I've seen, it really depends on how the students go, because there can be cases when only 7, 8 or 9 % of students get A+.

The grade distribution (http://www.vcaa.vic.edu.au/vce/statistics/2008/midyear/vce_chemistry_ga1_08.pdf) shows 11% of students attempting the exam got an A+ result.

Yes you can definately still get a 30, however you have to pull a solid score on the Unit 4 exam, atleast an A I'd say
and your SACS will most like go down a bit unfortunately

I got a B, not really happy but oh well, i tried my best. Is there any chance that i can still get 40 at the end of year or what's the maximum raw score can i get?
Title: Re: Chem results!
Post by: costargh on August 06, 2008, 05:43:45 pm
A 40 raw is almost definitely out of the question unless you got full marks on the 2nd exam, but don't be discouraged! If you could lift that B to an A on the end of year exam you might be able to get around 34 or 35

Another B on exam 2 would probz leave you around the 31-32 mark

yeah unfortunately, like costargh said, it would be extremely unlikely :(
I would say that even if u got B+ or A...it would be very difficult to get 40+
What are u ranked for ur internal sacs?
Your ranking can have quite an impact on ur SS too, but i'm guessing u should be ranked pretty highly coz i know how awesome you are :P hehehe
But if u do extra well in ur end of year exam...i will say that u still have a chance at getting at a SS of around 35 ish

But yeah...don't give up!!
If u don't do as well as u hoped, you can always blame it on Ms Tedesco for teaching us REALLY craply last year! :P ROFL
Luv you Monica!!!

but that doesn't help you get a better score :P

putting it into perspective: your year 12 is summed up by a 4 digit number (or 3 if you are REALLY unfortunate), in the grand scheme of things, it in fact matters very little
at the end of the day, you can only try as hard as you can, and do as best as you can. you've put in the effort, then be happy that you have achieved, regardless of marks. =]

I didn't do as well as I'd hoped for, but I still have reasons to smile =]

Title: Re: Chem results!

Title: Re: Chem results!
Post by: Monica on August 07, 2008, 04:16:17 pm
thanx everyone, i guess trying my hardest is the best out of all. my teacher said exam 2 has always been easier than exam 1, so i should get a higher mark.
Title: Re: Chem results!
Post by: shinny on August 07, 2008, 08:13:04 pm
given that its supposedly 'easier', everyone will find it easier, so it doesn't change much. what i'd say exam 2 does though is reward those who study more though given that its largely theory based (used to be basically completely theory, but now they've shifted equilibrium and its calculations into unit 4 so theres still some stoic). often, theory based exams reward those who study more since its not quite as easy to make mistakes as it is with things like stoic

for those who did chem last year-
do you think exam 1 is generally easier or harder than exam 2?
i mean, on a whole if you did past papers ect.

well actually I'm in yr 12 but unit 3 and 4 is abit of a mixed bag from last year. However from what I see, unit 4 is probaly easier (just a little)

cecille and lauzy, you'd have to do very very well on the end of year exam to get 48+

last year I lost 3 marks for exam 1 and around 5-7 for exam 2 and got 46

Yeah, you'd have to ace it. You're well-positioned to aim for that though. I made far fewer mistakes in Unit 4, so you can too!

There is no such thing as Units 1&2 Specialist Maths. I will tutor them in year 11 General Maths Advanced (or whatever it's called amongst different schools) if they ask, but I can't guarantee I will know their entire course because some of what they learn is irrelevant to Specialist Maths 3&4.

I do not remember Physics 1&2 anymore.

oh shit sorry, i forgot that there's no units 1 and 2 specialist. but it's not about tutoring, rather reffering to your sig:  "VCE Economics, Chemistry and Maths Methods (Units 1-4)
VCE Specialist Maths and Physics (Units 3&4)"

pretty awesome if you got 40+ without units 1 & 2 physics.

OMG IVE KILLED NE HOPE OF GETTIN A GREAT ENTER   :-\ .....

-.- if u guys are thinking an A was bad this and that... well u guys should be really proud of urself.... but in saying that u shouldnt really say i "only" got an A... coz it really lowers the self esteem of someone like me... not saying u should really care and all. lol

but it makes those others who didnt achieve that mark feel absolutly retarted....

.... BUT congrats to those who got a B+ and higher. be happy and smile about it :)
and to those who tried and didnt get tthe mark they wanted.... everything happens for a reason. just study the max that u can. u can live without a social life for the next couple of weeks... coz after exams its like a 3+ month break  8-)

my school didnt achieve ne grader higher than a C+ ....
so there u go.  :idiot2:

.xxx.

You can always aim for the highest that you can. As long as you study consistently throughout the year, especially on your best subjects, then Chemistry is all but a small increment to what will be an excellent ENTER score!
