wanted to drop it, changed my mind :D
-
To be honest, if you drop Pysch at this stage in VCE, you're absolutely retarded.
What does that achieve for you?
Keep it and work harder. From what I've heard the exam was piss easy which is why the top end of marks was highly congested. If you know your shit, (I'll assume the end of year exam will be harder) then you should be able to get an A+ and maybe sneak in for your 42.
If you drop Pysch now you are really doing yourself no favours
-
get over yourself
getting 50's and 99.95 means nothing to anybody but yourself

I never wanted a 50
But I was hoping for a 42

HEYYYY I KNOW YOU FROM THE PAPER!!! I THINK =s
LIKE I REMEMBER READING YOUR NAME IN THE HIGH ACHIEVERS PAPER. SMART ASS :p
-
i was just about to predict that you are aiming to get into either medicine/law
then i saw your sig
sighhhhhh
doing those things doesn't make you any better. do something you enjoy. and dont try and tell me that med/law are what you enjoy, because i know you are lying.
-
Don't drop it. Just keep going and try your best in Psych (to be quite honest, I think an A in Psych is fantabulous!!!! :):) )
-
why would you drop it now?
all that hard work from first semester goes down the drain. it seems like a complete waste of effort and resources, especially considering you got an A which is a fantastic mark.
think of it this way: even if you continue to do psych and dont do any study/homework etc, you can probably pull a 30. thats 3.0 aggregate points added to your enter (considering theres only 5 other subjects in your sig). theres no reason to drop it at this point...
-
lol depression is all gone and funnily enough I'm happy
I guess its due to the fact that if I got a high A... its pretty much the same as a low A+, and doesn't rule out a 42
I'm gonna work a bit harder, hopefully get that 42...
thanks
-
fuckin hormones
-
personally i think if you drop psych because you got an A instead of an A+ you are an idiot. p.s how do you know you got a high A?
-

He doesn't know... yet
-
Good to see that you've not given up. Whether or not you get 40+, enhancements are still useful, because they still boost your ENTER (even if just by a little bit). With an A, you can still get pretty high, anyway.
That said, If I don't get an A+ (didn't go to school today), I'll also be distraught.
-
he'll get a statement of marks
and when he finds out he got 85% he'll be back here to whinge about how his 99.95 can only be 98.45, and he won't be able to do medicine and law at melbourne uni... when medicine and law are what interest him the most... a likely combo, the human body -> 5000 page books about the legal system.

Don't let the aim of 42 be an anchor. You're not doing any other year 12 subject this year. If you drop it, I guarantee you that you will just be bludging. You won't be pre-studying for your other year 12 subjects during that time.
Even if you don't get 42 for Psychology, it doesn't matter. Something has to go in your bottom two, and something is better than nothing.

If you look at his signature he is clearly not aiming for 99.95.

I can relate to your situation pyschlaw! with accounting last year i walked out of the midyear expecting an A+! When i got the A i was upset, but i kept to it. I got the statement of marks and it turned out i was 1.5 marks off an A+ and come the end of year exam, i got an A+ and managed to net myself a 39. Don't drop it. Keep to it. Worse comes to wrose it can be the handy 10% increment! Good Luck.
-
Don't drop it, this is only the midyear, you still have another big chance. In any case there is no point in dropping a 3/4 you are currently enrolled in and doing good at. You might as well drop a 1/2 if you really need to drop something lol :P
"Why do we fall, sir? So that we might better learn to pick ourselves up." - Alfred Pennyworth, Batman Begins
-
FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DON'T DROP IT
-
Please do not drop psych. Having a study score for a subject (that will contribute to your aggregate) is better than a 0. (even if it ends up as bottom 2)
Also, finish what you've started! :P
And finally, there is nothing wrong with an A. I'm pretty sure you can get 42 or above for Psychology with an A.

YEH EVEN THE VCAA SAYS IT IS POSSIBLE

end of problem!

where did you get that screen shot from?
-
dont drop it bro
what would you gain by dropping it?
-
where did you get that screen shot from?
Its from a VCAA powerpoint somewhere on the site. I had it saved from a few months ago
-
lol sorry guys, I guess it was in the heat of the moment, but I wouldn't drop it ever.... that'd be really really stupid now that I think about it (I dont know why I said it) .... Im definately not dropping it but I'm looking to do better in the end of year
-

What the hell is your problem?
So what if he has higher standards than what you consider to be "modest"
He can be as dissapointed as he likes, this can be a place for people to vent and express themselves
Also, law and medicine is a choice that alot of students make, the two career paths have similar characteristics.
Besides, who cares what his reasons are for wanting to choose a specific course, thye only matter to him. If you want people to help you when you need it, you should show a little courtesy to others
-
By the way, i got a 41 in psych with an A in the mid year (i didn't get a SoM though)
-
my teacher was really upset that i didnt get the a+ she wanted
-
Aww, don't feel too bad... I got a C last year... I bet you feel better already :P
-
lol thanks you made my day :P

Med was my no.1 preference. Law was no.2.
Why on earth couldn't I be interested in both treating cancer (I wanted to go into oncology) AND international law? Not everyone has as narrow an interest range as you do.
psychlaw, don't beat yourself up about this, if like you said you really did "literally no homework" then an A is a BRILLIANT effort and if you actually did work for your end of year you could probably pull a high A+ ... which could easily get you that 42 :)
-
^
Imagine how interesting a Law/Medicine degree would be. That would be the ultimate degree for intellectual minds :D
-
http://vcenotes.com/forum/index.php/topic,3913.0.html
I met a med/law guy at the law students introduction night.
He told me that he started med, found the work far too easy and relaxed, and therefore decided to take up law "for fun".

What's the name of the powerpoint?

dude i got an A as well, and thought i had an A+ in the bag.. but at the end of the day not much seperates the 2 marks, and with a high A you can still get 40+... i hope for the very same thing as you.. but dont give up.. you're only in year 11 and that rash behaviour won't get you through year 12.
peace

When I was in year 11 I got an A on my end-of-year exam (and wanted an A+). I ended up with a study score of 38 and still managed to pull a pretty good ENTER and get into the course I wanted. When you look at the big picture, these little setbacks can end up being virtually meaningless later on. If anything, it should teach you the standard of work required to do amazingly in the VCE. Year 11 is the time to mess up, that's why most people only do one or two 3/4s (not that an A is 'messing up' in the slightest, it's more than what most people in the state can even hope for).
-
WHOOOT lol
Just got my statement of marks
I got 163/180 the maximum A...
Disappointing because that means if I got 0.5 of a mark more, its an A+
still happy though, hopefully I can get that 42
I can't believe its only 0.5 marks, worth getting it remarked?
-
Doesnt that mean one assessor marked you as 82/90 and one marked you as 81/90? OHHHHHHHHHH FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT lol
I dont think you can just 'get it remarked'.
-
lol the new annoying thing is that the questions I thought I got wrong (GSR one, Parasympathetic one) I got right
But the ones I was sure I got right ended up losing some marks there
In the artist question I only got 5/8 marks which is annoying cause it was such an easy question
-
Nice stuff there psychlaw. If you get an A+ in the Unit 4 exam, I'm definitely sure you'll get that desired 42 :).
You are definitely not normal. Be thankful that you got that mark ???
-
Hmm, I was going through and I realised I probably deserved most of those mistakes.... but the question about the Taxi Driver..... Im 99% sure I got these right
for 14 A) (physiological effects of sleep deprivation) I put headaches and hand tremors and got 3 out of 4?
and for 14 B) (psychological) I put irritabilty and anxiety and got 2 out of 4
wtf? are you sure I can't get it remarked? this is getting to me a bit
-
If I get a VCAA inspector to come in, Can I atleast get them to explain to me how I got it wrong? and physically see my exam? Is that possible????? Ill pay up to 50 bucks if it costs
-

Remark? VCAA never remark exams. It's a policy that's always been upheld.

I'm certain that's not possible.. Maybe wait until the assessment reports come out, then compare your answers with theirs. I highly doubt they'd go all the way to your school though >_> Plus they don't remark, at all.
I can feel your pain, I was really certain with my answers, but maybe the wording was taken as too ambiguous.

I do literally no homework but now ........................
Wow, no homework and you still got a pretty decent score. Perhaps I should do Psychology next year. Though with a rough estimate if you did get a 43 raw, what are you expecting when it all gets scaled?

20 Psychology gets scaled down heaps!
-
~40-41
-
it doesnt scale down from 45, it scales down 2 from less then 35 and scales down 1 from 40
43 goes to 42.6
