Im just wondering what a possible study score for methods will be with the following results:
Sacs: Average 88% (top 3 in a class of 25)
Exam 1: between 30-32/40
Exam 2: around 70/80
Thanks
-
Easily, yes. You may get in to the 40s (raw) or perhaps higher.
-
ha. bonghead.
-
exam 1 30-32 definitely an A. i'll say a mid-low A.
exam 2 70ish definitely an A also. could be either an high A or low A+.
definitely 38+... if not 37+.
i remember getting a 36 ss with
Coursework A+ (95)
Exam 1 low B
Exam 2 low-mid A
if i got those grades with 36 ss raw, you can only get higher than me with the grades you predicted you got for methods exams this yaer.
-
bonghead (LOL - sorry i couldnt help it but i had to laugh)
are you only doin 4 subjects? are have u done an accelerated?
-
whats wrong with bonghead?......Yeah i got a 40 for biol last year so i thought life in year 12 would be easier (and more enjoyable) if i took a subject off. I know its a lazy attitude but i figure you might as well enjoy life

lol and I got a 36 in solo performance with
mid to high A
Low A and
95.5% Sacs (must have been moderated cause I know I got 98% in Sacs...)
so much for my hopes of getting 38+ in it....
-
its funny becuase my brother got similar scores in music except for a B+ and only got a 32. I dont understand how the hell vcaa work out the study score i would love to know.

I'm thinking around 36-39 tops.

Hi Bonghead (lol) i did methods last year
i believe they presented the scores like this
GA1
GA2
GA3
i think the order was SACS, exam 1 and exam 2.
i got
GA1: A+ (possibly a low one because i did get a few A's during the year, although my class was elite so that may have boosted me up)
GA2: A+ (fairly sure i went home remembered my answers and compared with itute.com and got 39/40 or 40/40)
GA3: B+ (didnt bother checking because i knew i stuffed it up)
so yeah that got me a 37 raw. but it went up to 42.85 so im slightly happier about that. anyways all the best to everyone especially those doing spesh. one exam left for me to fail and thats latin! oh joy!
hope that helps :P

So they present your results as:
GA1 /100
GA2 /80
GA3 /160
Do they just put your raw score in each, or do they give you a scaled score/percentile.
-
They present your results as a bunch of letter grades, followed by a study score. If you want the raw scores, you have to pay $8/subject.
You only find out your scaled scores at the end of year 12, as vtac does scaling not vcaa. But your subjects this year are scaled according to this years cohort so if you find someone with the same raw score, they can tell you exactly what you will scale to

So we get SMSed, mailed or internet-posted-up (i dont know the word for it) our RAW scores then? and we have to calculate the scaling ourselves?
-
No, if your ENTER is calculated too, (i.e. you've done english + 3 or more other subjects) then they give you raw and scaled on the interwebs.
-
Wait, so if you did 1 3/4 subject this year, u wont get sent your scaled score - just the raw?
-
Indeed.

Ah, thank you! I did two 3/4 subjects last year and i wasnt sure if the result they SMSed me was Raw or scaled
-
well i signed up for the sms thing, and also checked online. so they told me my raw score of 37.
however i didnt just pull the 42.85 thing out of my ass ahah, i went to see my school careers counsellor and she was able to look it up on vtac or something like that :)
hope that helps

have you ever ripped a bong? just curious..

um...wait that dont quite make sense
if this year's assessment is harder than next year's, and i got a middle of range raw score, wouldnt that mean i'll be disadvantaged next year because my raw score compared to theirs will be considerably lower?

You only get your raw score this year, but you'll still be scaled according to the year you did it in. You just don't actually get that scaled score until you get your ENTER
-
ahhhh! thank you! now it makes sense...
i was worried for a minute..
so could someone give me a rough approximation please?
SACs: A+ (1 mark wrong of all 5 SACs, dunno what percentage)
Exam1: High A to A+ (i tried finding the CAS answers, but no hope)
Exam2: A ~ A+ (again, no hope on verification)
the 2 exams i've checked with the non-CAS results, and for all the questions that were the same on both papers i was right...
would that land me something around 48?
btw it's my school's first year of yr12, any bonuses there?
edit, was trying not to be arrogant, but i'm fairly confident i got everything right on both exams...
-
Maybe 38 raw if you're rocking between A and A+. I'm just guessing though.
-
Exam 1 what you did is identical to the non-cas one if that helps
-
it really depends on exam 2, if you secure A+ in all three of them u should be looking at mid to high 40s raw. considering your sac scores have been really good :)
-
there seem to always be a misconception about the numerical score you get at school for your sacs. what you get at school doesn't necessary equal to what you may get on your school course work grade.
scoring straight A+'s will most likely give you at least a 42 in maths subjects.
-

NO! 8) its just a name i thought of....Id have to admit the circumstances do look a bit suspicious though
-
Yeh it looks a bit suspicious(but it is quiet funny).
If you score A+, A+, A+ I heard you can get anywhere between 38-50.
-
hey i was wondering if somebody could give me a rough approximation
i probably got an a possibly an a+ for sacs, my first 3 were lowish and then started getting over 95% in all of them - think my school did badly on this exam, in general i think my school is extremely weak but according to vcaa it isnt..
38/40 first exam
65ish/80 second

Your looking at low 10's for those scores, anything higher you'll be very lucky to have missy
JUST KIDDING...yea I like to say stupid things, life's too short not to have fun =P
more like in the range of high 30's to most likely somewhere in the 40's

as in it might get scaled down?
maybe i should find out exactly how that works someday...

We got the same, but u completely rocked the first exam and got the same grade as me 4 the second. :? How does that work? Seems like u deserved more.
-
wow thanks so much guys, i was so scared i wudnt get over 38, phew! guess well just wait and c now, with less nerves :P
