Title: IT:A Exam
Post by: Michael on November 13, 2007, 04:34:13 pm
What did everyone think of the exam? I thought it was pretty good. There were a couple of tricky multiple choice ones.

I found it to be pretty horrible, although I answered the questions to the extent required, I finished about 40 minutes early. I thought there were a few ambiguous questions there too... I'll be interested to see what Mark Kelly has to say about it.

I agree Micheal. Section 2 was great, but there were a few tricky multiple choice. PMD, if you answered the questions to the extent required I'm sure you'll get most of the marks  :)

Oh, I have no doubts that I'll do well in the exam - it was easy. It's just that I found it pretty odd that I (and a lot of other people in my school) finished the exam so early. The only questions which posed a problem are those which were ambiguous. For example, the term "wireless broadband for laptop" in the specifications for the smart phone on the last question. "wireless for laptop" by would lead one to believe it means 802.11 (wifi), however because the term "broadband" was used, it'd seem to imply 3G.

Yeah the exam was pretty easy overall, except for a few multiple choice questions that I was unsure about. Overall it was a good exam. What did you guys put for the Ethical Conflict with Karen and sending the medical records?

I said that Karen has an obligation to protect the integrity of her patients and that by sending out the information it would not ensure this.

I said that Karen may be inclined to give the records because she believes it to be a noble cause because it may help future patients (or even those currently with the ailment being researched) - however, Karen would have to weigh this up with the fact that she must ethically protect the privacy of the patient.

I said that the patients had trust in the clinic to only use the information for their own purpose (or something along those lines)

Well, that wasn't so bad.

I also finished about an hour early so I checked over the rest over the next 45 minutes. There were a couple of questions that I wasn't sure to do (the grouping of the callers in the spreadsheet). I probably got a couple of multiple choice q's wrong, yeah some of them were trick.

I mentioned that she had to seek consent from the patient for ethical part. It would be unethical if she sent the files without the patients consent and knowledge...

Hmm I said that if she sends out the patient records she would be disrespecting the privacy rights of patients and that the data may be vital to the medical advancement of the project, hence if she didn't send it to them she may be preventing an advancement in medicine that could save lives. Lol I think I got a little bit over the top.

Lol I know! But I couldn't think of anything else for some reason. Hopefully my examiner somehow understands my viewpoint :D

Really?! Where were the answers to the methods exam? It might hurt to look at the answers cause I'll start estimating my marks.

something along the lines of "if the family request for medical records without explicit consent by the patient then Karen will need to consider ethically the intentions of the family (which will be best for the patient because they know the patient best) or the legal obligation, where Karen will face the conflict of whether it is more ethical to follow the law or do what is right"

lol they wanted a conflict, i gave them one, it better be right, i was talking to my philosophy teacher about it afterwards... grrr

hope everyone did well =D

It required you to group the calls by carrier (this was basically shown in the second screenshot too). What I said is that a descending sort should be peformed on the values A7:A18 (or whatever those values were for the carrier).

for the relationship question (last MC)
i think i chose A, its the one with two infinity sign in the middle table
1-> 8(infinity sign), 8->1
wat did u do?

and printing choice thing, black and white, rather than colour printer and had to use spreadsheat. i chose
operational and economic because i dont know wat a technical decision is? can u tell me?

am i right???

It was B, because primary keys must be 1 and the many symbol is on the other table. Primary keys are unique therefore cannot have a many symbols. Yep that answer was right.
I put D for the other question. It must have been Economic and Technical, because the company uses black ink instead of colour to save money from ink and technical because of the limitation from the printer only able to print in black and white.
Technical Factors are factors related to technology. For example:
An organization's procedures are not being completed efficiently due to outdated technology. This would be considered a technological factor.

There is no such things as technical decisions. I think you mean decisions influenced by technical factors. If you've studied the impetus for change it will have: Technical, Social and Economic Factors. In terms of the question the technical limitation is referring to the printer's limited hardware capabilities, which is its inability to print in colour.
