Title: Theories of effective change management
Post by: costargh on August 30, 2008, 10:35:30 pm
-theories of effective change management

In the Barrile text book, it talks about Kurt Lewins theory (three phase), as well as an eight step change process.

My teacher said that in the new course they are taking Lewins theory out (its too simplistic or something) and that better students should focus on the eight step change process rather than Lewin's theory.

Thoughts? or any other theories of effective change management?

I know this sounds retarded, but i make up my own theory and try and relate it to the situation

I'm still focusing on Lewin's theory in the exam - even though my teacher advised me to suggest the 8 step method.

I just find Lewin's theory to be extremely easier to remember and if you are able to apply it to the case study then there would be no reason why you wouldn't get full marks.

Can you do that?

I think you can - the question in the exam would generally ask to "apply an appropriate change management strategy" and I don't think you have to directly mention Lewins or Kotters 8 step model - you would just need to have a clear structure behind the strategy to get the full marks.

Yeah, i think you can make up your own theory. Just as long as it relates back to the same topic, and you explain how it is relative to the situation. just dont go discussing how you made up a theory to the examiners. lol.- Oh, and if your memory fails you- make up a name for the person who made the theory

Well you do realise that if you can remember The 8 step model, you're remembering the 3 step model, as it is just an adaptation of the 3 step model, or one would be more correct in saying, its the 3 step model, broken up into 8 steps. If you guys need help understanding it or memorising it let me know, and i'll try to help you out. ^_^ (Btw I'm back)
