Pounds?? They mean dollars right?
-
The friend had this problem. It appears in $ for me.

Oh cool. Yeah I printed the invoice and it was like 71 pounds (154 AUD!).
-
beware: 10% surcharge for credit card payments :P

lol, yeah - it's still better than the $50 you have to pay if you pay via paper/office booking!
-
lol pounds
-
They must love (the) English so much.
-
So yeah, I received "Breanna" and "Bethany"'s VATE ticket by accident, haha.
For those of you who got emailed an incorrect ticket like I did:
http://www.vate.org.au/
"Student Revision Days : English Day Tickets emailed 25/9/08 were incorrect. Please ignore
the email sent to you and the CORRECT ticket details will be emailed to you
next week."
-
lol and i got "Chantelle." Hmm i wonder who received my ticket. I was about to call VATE until i saw this post, thanks Ell ;)
-
wow thats weird, well mine came out ok!
has anyone ever been to a VATE session before? im pretty excited for this lit one, but curious as i have only just heard of them!
-
Hahah I got Becky's :D I emailed them but they didn't reply, thanks for informing us, ell!
-
don't tell me the entry ticket is the whole email itself and we have to print it out?!?!
-
oh wow, i actually received my own, quite amazing.
Ken: that would be the case, i think many providers are moving that way, because they already have you in their database. this works similarly to how e-ticketing works for flights.
-
lol if you had the photoshop skills, you can just use someone's ticket and make it your own :P (I don't think they will waste time for a roll call)
-
nah, you have to "check in" at the front. they've got everyone whom they've issued the ticket to on a database. =]
-
Please bring a copy of your texts
Won't everyone have different texts? (for english language)

They probably just used 'texts' to refer to the novels used in English/Lit, not the actual textbooks (which is what I think your thinking of? or are there actual texts studied in Eng Lang?)
-
no, there's not texts.
though I'd bring the textbook anyways =]
[OH, and that Insight Exam Guide, and all the past papers.... mmm]
-
for english, they tell u to go straight to the first session where a person will check your ticket without 'signing in' so like i said before, u can still use some photoshop haxx :P

Do you use the Heinemann textbook? (that's the only in-print one I know of). I find it basically useless.
-
Lol, yay, we used to have pounds in Australia. They must have forgotten to update their website from about 20-30 years ago. ;)
-
Has bookings for Vate closed?
I got onto the booking thing a couple of days ago, but today when i checked, i couldn't find the link anymore :(
If i cant book for it, what would happen if i just rocked up on the day? :P lol
-
give them a call...?
-
LOL LOL... good idea :P
-
So who went to the VATE Revision Day today and what sessions did you attend?
I went to 'Whose Reality?' during the second session (which wasn't too bad) and Language Analysis B for the third. The language analysis was a complete mess, someone screamed and left the theatre near the end I think (couldn't really see too well but I heard it). The lecturer had enough and told us to go, there was still a good 7-8 minutes left. :-\
-
LOL why did they scream?
-
lol I reckon they'd had enough of her (she was a bit uptight at the beginning), we were all just looking at each other thinking what the hell just happened :D

Yeah, absolutely! Where were you sitting? Did you manage to see what happened?
-
i was sitting on the side closest to the door in the middle'ish area, and some guys (i presume they were guys kos they sounded like guys) opened the door and started yelling and then ran off. from where the lecturer was standing she probably saw who they were but i didnt see just saw the door open and close
-
Wow haha I went to Language Analysis in the third session, 1:15-2:15.
A guy named Ryan something ran it and he was reallllly helpful and insightful, and gave good tips and advice on how to write a LA piece.
Seems some of you got the raw end which sucks.
-
I went to Language Analysis C (first session), LBW and Encountering Conflict.
The guy who ran LBW was brilliant.. Overall I thought today was really good and worth it.
Who was the lady who just stopped the lecture?

Yeh was that LBW the 3rd session? the guy was pretty awesome!
-
I went to:
Session 1: Language Analysis - was pretty good.
Session 2: Identity & Belonging - lecturer basically just read out his slides so less good
Session 3: Kite Runner - pretty good but everyone was getting a bit bored by the end.
