For anyone who sat the UMAT this year, our results will be coming out on around the 20th September. Good luck everyone. :)
-
wow, good luck guys, thats like... 9 days
-
thanks psychlaw ;) It seriously feels like it was just yesterday when I sat the UMAT.
What do you want to study next year???
-
Ahhhhhh anyone else get interviews for UNSW or anywhere else? Got mine today for UNSW and I'm bloody happy =D More so because its an indicator I did half decent on the UMAT I guess, and hopefully it'll set me up for Monash.

well done shinjitsuzx!!! Unfortunately, I missed the deadline for UNSW so I can now only apply to be considered for late round interviews. But I'm still happy with that, afterall it's better than no chance at all.
I'm guessing that since your from VIC your applying to Monash. Good luck with getting an interview there too. :)

Does anyone know the exact date we get the result. I have heard a few people say around the 20th but no one knows for certain!
-
I heard 30th? o_O I thought the official date was just 'end of September' according to ACER. Guess we might just have to wait and see?

good stufff
lol i haven't got a reply either way, which is weird because apparently someone who didn't get an offer has been noticed. might be because i sent the application like 2 days before the deadline
-
Generally due to the amount of applications they receive, they don't send correspondence to unsuccessful candidates. They do take a few days to send out all the offers though

they don't send them out to all unsuccessful candidates? because like i said, one person i know didn't get an offer but he has been notified.
-
Oh ok
I must be thinking of somewhere else, like adelaide then
-
Yeh, must be hard sending out all those emails with their paper cup and string communications systems down there in the sticks ;]
-
I suppose it's easy enough with a database system of applicants all receiving a generic email, but UNSW gets around 4000 applications every year, thats a alot of work. I thnk monash send a letter to every applicant, but they're all generic, with successful applicants having a extra sheet inside, as i said, alot of work goes into it.
-
Good luck everyone! I know you will all do great! ;)
-
aww thanks happy!!
-
I received an offer from UNSW as well! :)
Still anxious about UMAT results though.
shinjitsuzx: do you know what your predicted ENTER was? (just curious) :)
-
I actually don't know since I gave it to my coordinator and he said he'll do it later and mail it off himself...but I assume it was a 99 or 100? I've had a pretty good academic record so far.

A lot of unis are still behind :P
Even then, putting all those letters into envelopes...
-
Lol, I can imagine the work they go through putting our ENTER statements in envelopes... Let alone UMAT results :P

I don't know why Wood didn't tick 100 for everyone. I wonder if he did for me.
I'll have to go check.
I didn't get an interview offer though :(

apparently the predicted enter was based on last year's rankings
& i havent got a reply either way yet :tickedoff:
-
you should check the email you provided to UNSW.
most people got it that way.
-
Indeed, thanks happy ^_^
And heyyy, shinjitsuzx, be nice to us country folk, we're not all simple ;p
Jokes.
But yeah, I applied for Adelaide as well, but didn't for UNSW...
On the edge of my seat for a Med offer :s

yr 11 rankings (this is only for our school)

Is that MHS?
-
yeah it is
-
Shouldn't the top 50 like be expected to get 99 based on past years results.
Are the rankings based on SS for Yr 11 3/4 or for grades on Yr 11 1/2s
-
hmm im not sure if it was based on the 1/2 or the 3/4 subjects yr 11's did last year. i hope it was the latter cuz i failed 2 subjects in yr 11 = a shithouse predicted enter
-
I guess ppl doing a 3/4 in Yr 11 would concentrate on that at the expense of their 1/2s. But then again, considering the competitive nature of MHS and the number of people who get 40+, a couple of marks lost here and there and you're all of a sudden ranked lower, so 1/2s may be a more well-rounded predictor, whereas 3/4s (assuming a good SS) may give a greater indication of potential.
Although if I were selecting predicted ENTER's at Victoria's only selective high school for boys I wouldn't give anyone less than 98, no-one's really going to question you are they?
-
:( I surely do hope I get an interview somewhere.
(here's for UNSW second round interview)
-
wtf i havent applied for interviews anywhere else!!!!
What should i do now? Can i get in 2nd round???
-
Perhaps. Depending on the raw score provided by ACER, you could make it into second round or even late round.
They say that second round/late round doesn't disadvantage interviewees, but in truth, it does. Lower UMAT -> OH MY GOD NO! REJECTION RATE IS HIGHER!
-
how did you guys apply? i am a little confused
-

To be eligible for a first round offer at UNSW you had to submit a registration of interest and an application form by July 25.
-
Vic med is unlike most other states, as we only apply to VTAC
For UNSW, Newc and UWS you have to apply to UAC and to the individual institutions. The free ACER UMAT booklet has traditionally had a good summary of the application processes of the various undergraduate universities.
Later round interviews at UNSW won't affect you too much if your ENTER is good enough, they love that there. They always reserve spots for applicants in the late round

UNSW doesn't require you to lodge an application through UAC does it? Don't you just have to send the registration of interest form and the application form?
I was lucky enough to receive an interview offer from UNSW, does that mean I still have to apply through UAC if I haven't already?
I'm a little confused.... ???
-
Yes, you must still apply to UAC, they are the body that will make the actual offer to you
-
Thanks BA22. :)
I'll have to do it tomorrow though as you can't change applications after midnight!
-
do umat results come in the mail with a score?
-
Nah, you check online with you're UMAT ID I'm pretty sure. Well...initially anyhow. Pretty sure you'll get something in the mail eventually though.
-
You get it the same way you got your admission ticket:
http://umatreg.acer.edu.au/candidates/index.php
Results tab up the top.
-
Hey guys, just thought i'd tell you (for those of you who arnt on MSO) that one of their members rang up and UMAT results will be released on the 25th
-
Less than a week away!
-
Thank god! :D
-
do they give us an actual score and how do we no if our score is good enough for a med course
-
You will get scores for each section, plus the percentile you are in, plus an overall score.
Nobody knows what score is good enough for a med course until the offers come out, basically. Last year, the Monash med cut off was 59. This year will probably be higher
-
Monash med cut off was 59.
59 as in 59% right or percentile?
-
neither - it's just a number you get. nobody knows what it is out of, nobody knows what it really means
-
Last year ACER introduced another scoring option known as the overall score. It is different to the percentiles and scaled scores that many of the past students have seen, and is roughly the average of the 3 scaled scores you get, roughly.
