hey im just curious what sort of score do you need to get a 50 for PE
weve finished all our sacs and i have the highest sac marks for my school (an average of 94%)
what kind of score do you reckon ill need for the end of year exam for a 50.. like above 95%?
thanks
-
For most subjects (and PE in particular) you can only drop 1-2 marks on the exam to be guaranteed a 50.
-
You have 87.3254% chance. Don't ask me how I worked it out. It's complicated
-
costa, your a methods boy i see
-
You're quite correct
-
In harder subjects, you can stand to lose quite a few marks in the exam, and still manage to secure a 50. However, in subjects such as PE, which are labeled 'easy', you couldn't lose more than 2 or 3 marks. Maybe a few more if the exam was particularly hard; but those are very unrealistic odds.

Not really; even in spec you can only lose a maximum of about 3-4 marks over both exams most years in order to be guaranteed a 50.
-
I think it's subjects that don't scale much either way that you can afford to lose the most marks on
-
Last year in P.E, the highest exam mark was around 90%. According to my teacher anyway... but just do the best you can, don't aim for a specific score on the exam, unless it's 100%!
-
Yeh just keep it simple shademaker, just achieve 100% in the exam and u should have no problems in getting ss 50!
-
Last year, according to Rob Malpeli (dude who writes the main textbook) you can afford to lose around 13marks and still get a 50!
-
Err that can't be right..
-
Why not?
-
the exam is out of over 100marks btw
-
It's out of 120 marks.
105 - SA
15 - MC.
Pretty sure Malpeli and Smyth would know the facts.
-
Last year you only needed 70% for an A+ on the exam.
84/120
Losing 36 marks and still getting an A+.
Lose 12ish marks = 50.
-
It's not that uncommon for uncompetitive subjects. For example, in 2006, my friend got a 50 in Information Systems (now known as IT: Software Development) yet he dropped 11 marks on his exam.
-
Maybe you're right just seems suprising considering most other subjects, where losing 5 marks = no chance of 50 at all.
-
Well, I am right.
So cop it sweet, you/everyone else doing PE ain't as good as you/they think you/they are.
=] xxoo

Man that's seriously so mad...
-
yeh i think when u look up the grade distribution on the vcaa website, it says u could lose like 20 marks n still get an A+
http://www.vcaa.vic.edu.au/vce/statistics/2007/section3/vce_physical_ed_ga07.pdf
actually says u could get 84/120 and get an A+, 76/120 for an A, 68.5/120 for B+
evidently the cohort found last years exam pretty difficult
-
Last years exam was exceptionally difficult, having done it already as part of my revision.
A friend of mine who got the Premiers award got 88% on it... So if you can get that when doing it as a practice, then you would probably know your stuff :)
-
I've also heard that too, form one of his revisions sessions
-
One of who's revision sessions?
Was it any good?
-
Robert Malpelis
Yes, it is outstanding, excellent value
-
Nice one! Which session. I went to one of his!
And yes it was good, but I can't find my notes from it anywhere!!!
I've looked EVERYWHERE. I remember they were really good.
-
my session was at bundoora, RMIT university
last year
-
Haha, last year... but then how did he tell you about the exam marks then?
-
He said the same thing, i meant to quote chocadude about losing about 15 marks and still getting a 50
-
Haha, OK, cos I think last years performance was significantly worse than previous years...
May I ask how you went in the subject?
And how you found last years exam?
-
The exam was alot more difficult than i expected i suppose i really didn't do as well as i'd hoped, but still managed a 41
-
Ah ok! Thats pretty decent :)
Did you get a SOM for the exam? I wish i knew where I'm sitting at the moment!
-
Nah, i didn't bother with SOM at the end of the year, i personally don't see the point of gtting ones at the end of the year
-
I just like knowing how I've gone. What were your SAC marks like? I'm hoping for 45+, but now am very worried I can't get that!
Hopefully the exam won't be as hard as last years.
-
My SAC marks were around a 95% average, but i was probably ranked 2nd in the class
-
OK, I'm equal first for SACs... with 97/100 for both units.
We'll see. 12 days left!
-

I tend to disagree, I went to a lecture this year at Melbourne Uni.
Was very err... expected? I mean, they didn't teach us anything special just the basic course.
It's not hard to learn the basic stuff, but that doesn't get you a 50.
I think, he should've assumed we knew the basics and just taught as particular topics which people don't know which could come up on this years exam. Like last year: Finite Capacity of the Anaerobic Systems....OR built in overload, not in any textbook that i've seen, but they pulled it out on the exam, and would've been perfect to teach us at the lecture.
Also, they didn't mention one of the most unknown topics, that is, PST.
And that kid who got 50, his mum is a PE 34 teacher ;).
AND isn't it funny how Telford designs the physical activity guidelines for everyone else, yet seems to fail when following them herself, harsh I know, but if you have ever been to her lectures you must've had a laugh.
-
Can't say I did, focusing more on the content than examiners appearance...
And they did say some pretty useful stuff I found, which I took down in my notes. ARGH.
-
LOL. um...useful stuff would've been maybe 2minutes worth? Just.
The best thing was the girl:guy ratio.
-
Any VCE lecture you go to for subjects like HHD & PE and Psych, all have large guy to girl ratio's!
Then again, for all guys schools, any girls is a bonus haha!
-

I'm in a very similar situation as you... 98.5/100 over the course of the year and hoping for 45+.
Yet exam revision is showing that there is a lot of things I need to work on.
Especially the nutrition part of the course.
Also doesn't help that the PE exam is one bloody hour after methods.
-
I know! I have the same problem, because of methods.
Nutrition is easy for me because of HHD :D
-
i finished with 92 out of 100 for symester 1 and 92 again for symester 2 and plan on getting atleast 75% on the exam, anyone guess my study score for me?
-
It depends on everyone else.
If 75% turns out to be a B, maybe like 34/35?
If 75% turns out to be an A, around 39/40?
-
70% = A+ Last Year...
-
wat is SOM and how does it work, is there a way to find out ur exam results or something
