crap.
everyone seems to be gushing about how well they did...wth was the last question about??? what kind of positive consequences are there for an OIL SPILLAGE!! it wasn't postives and negatives about social responsibility (that would've been easy), but about the SR issue Jerome Jones is facing!
RAH!!!!
this exam was so much harder than last years.
and HRM strategies...i said offering an attractive remuneration package and providing opportunities for career development. big fat zero?
well i'm glad everyone else found it so easy.
sorry about the rant.
i think i'll go drown my sorrows with season 4 gilmore girls now.

No one of your strategies was right :)
Dw the last qn confused me too... i spent like 10mins alone on that qn ..
-
Your strategies are fine, as long as you justified them.
-
really- which one?
and what did you put for the last question?
-
For the last question I defined both ethics and social responsibility. I then said that the oil polluting waterways was an unethical activity and that, as an act of social responsibility, Jerome could pull his staff out-of-office for one day to assist in cleaning the water ways. I then provided pros and cons for social responsibility (such as, initial cost/training associated with implementing CSR, but the pay off in terms of increased staff pride and loyalty, and therefore increased productivity -> attainment of organizational objectives, and also that customers are likely to become aware of such practices and as such the organization will have a more positive reputation -> increased competitiveness).
-
Both of them.
I put redundancy( although I didn't mention it) and oil spillage.
I stuffed the last question, just rambled on for one whole extra response page.

The remuneration package =] , the other one is right too, depends on how you explained it.
Anyways...
Last qn:
Definition of ESR..
Issues were environmental-pollution and redundancies...
Positives- chance to fix their image, technology would help improve productivity...
Negatives- poor PR, facing prosecution, losing customers etc..
Also spoke about how implementing CSR into the company would help benefit the company..
Can't remember my exact answer lol but thats something along those lines

that's an awesome answer, but how about the "postive effects of the social responsibility issue, i.e the spillage"? people in my class were saying stuff like that it lead to improved technology and improved operations.

oh yeah that makes sense...if only i could've thought of that in the bloody exam!

haha in the same boat- i just waffled on about SR in general for the whole page and a half lol.

I must of misinterpreted the question then - I just put two positive and two negative effects for social responsibility and ethics. That is, four points in total, not eight. Which I'm hoping is correct given that it's worth 6 marks - 4 for each point, 1 for each definition.
-
So what you're saying is:
1 mark for definition
1 mark for identifying the issues
2 marks for positive aspects
2 marks for negative aspects
Yes?? No?? lol

yeah i'm confused too lol

1 mark for defining ethics.
1 mark for defining social responsibility.
1 mark for social responsibility: positive.
1 mark for social responsibility: negative.
1 mark for ethics: positive.
1 mark for ethics: negative.
It's probably wishful thinking. :P

Oh haha :P but i think you weren't supposed to seperate them ;) (SR and Ethics I mean)
-
I believe it was more.. (it asked for two issues therefore)
1 mark for identifying the first issue
1 mark for positive
1 mark for negative
1 mark for the second issue
1 mark for positive
1 mark for negative
.... :) Heya all btw.. I thought I would join up.. I've been a member of BOS for a while, but find FSN so much better!
-
Also, sorry for double posting... :P
I did ethical and social responsibility as one thing, not separate.
Therefore, I did protecting the environment... Environmentalists could rally the business, etc, 'influencing' them to change their policies and resources to suit the environment more.
And, I don't believe this one is right - just guessed since I couldn't think of another - is protecting animal rights / against animal cruelty.... Couldn't think of anything else, and was stuck on justifying this to a painting business, so said something about the brushes being made from animal hairs??? LOL! :P I was under pressure, alright! lol.

LOL animal hairs!! that's freakin hilarious, the examiner better give you bonus points for thinking completely outside the box. that's just made my day
-
LOL I know... :P
I had 'The Body Shop' on hand for my example for my change issue... but I never needed it... and I had about 5minutes to go... and just thought of protecting animals... :P And well, you try relating that to a painting business??? :P .... You think if I justified it, I should get the marks?
-
HAHA ANIMAL HAIRS :P !!
^_^

Not really because i think the oil and paint spills were one issue and the redundancies was the other issue.
-
Ah ok.. Fair enough.... I just assumed that protecting the environment etc, is a social responsibility issue.. therefore, I don't see how thats wrong. We'll see soon enough.
I guess it was up to interpretation really... that was the only question that really made me think.

Meh, I don't think it will matter too much in terms of marking, realistically. Because it's still provide a valid - hell perhaps an even more detailed answer.
I was a bit disappointed - I had such an awesome social responsibility practice up my sleeve - carbon offsetting (with CityLink as an example), but I couldn't use it :(
-
I know barely any questions about change management... and i had mastered 2 change theories
-
I saw environment as being social responsibility, as it is an issue wider than the operations of the business. Ethics is more to do with conducting business in an acceptable way and relates to the redundancy aspect, rather than towards greater societal benefit. Or something... I'm tired and happy and on a high.
-
wat was the question? Im curious cos people at my school struggled with that question too.
-
I think it was something like identify and explain two positive and negatives aspects of two ethical and socially responsible issues faced by jerome jones..
Or something like that cant remember ..
-
well i dont know who jerome jones is lol cos i didnt do the exam but it seems like something about pollutin or something? an oil spill? am i rite?
-

Yeah oil and paint spill along with redundancies of 15 employees

Guys I don't think you should worry about it too much. Whatever most (if not everyone) on this board wrote is probably better than 90% of the state wrote anyway. I think this subject really is just one where it's up to the assesor to decide how much they like your answer.
And..... only one exam left woohoo :D
