Title: Ever Cheated on a test?
Post by: chikopapi on November 17, 2007, 01:07:55 pm
I'll be honest, this year I had massive Ancient Greek test that we got 4 days notice for where we had to memorize 6 pages of ENGLISH translation, I really didn't have the time and I had a SAC on the same day that I was studying for, so I typed up the translations really small, cut each section into its own little piece, and when the test, came, took the needed ones out of my pocket and put them between my legs on the chair and wrote it out.

I don't condone cheating, and I will definetly not do it again, but I would be interested if anyone else has maybe cheated on something (btw, back in Grade 4 or something doesnt count)

Ooo...my school takes SACs really seriously. We even have VCAA exam people walking around in some of them. So, did you not have a teacher at all?

We "cheated" in English somewhat...
Basically, there's like 5 or 6 English classes at my school. Because of how the timetables are done, some kids had English on some days, whereas other classes had it on other days. When we had SACs, they were spread out across the week (some kids did them Monday, some did them Tuesday, etc.) So, some kids from the first class memorised all the essay topics, and told people in the other classes (my class was usually one of the last classes to do SACs). It didn't help me though, I still got D+es and Cs  :(

And for some SACs, each class had a different topic, so this didn't help at all :P

It was some multiple choice test (no idea what they were about anymore) and me and my friend compared answers during the test ^_^
But, that was a longgg time ago.

I remember in our chinese end of year exam last year, the teacher supervising just happened to be one of the year 7/8 chinese teachers, and she was walking around and telling people when they had written something wrong etc. I refused to even let her *see* my paper when she came by :P. Doesn't count for anything, whats it matter if you cheat, only stopping yourself from learning =/

And I've probably in sacs occasionally looked at the person in the row in front of me's page when they turn it over etc, that's not really cheating though if they hold their page in such a way for the world to see for 2 seconds.

I feel bad now lol... only one who has actually cheated on something lol ...

what's done is done i guess, and i've learnt my lesson =]

not our fault if our teacher wasn't there and we had some clueless student teacher =]

haha don't, I've cheated in a pretty big exam too - but it wasn't for VCE, it was theory of music(outside school) ... I had notes in my pocket and pretended I had to go to the bathroom and yeah.

I still got only 79 though (75 is the pass mark ahaha) karma's a bitch :P

Speaking of which .... now that I think about it, it's actually pretty easy to cheat for VCE exams isn't it? Like, when people go to the toilet, nobody checks or anything, so they could just read their notes in there and come back out and write them couldn't they?

(for theory I had a lady follow me into the bathroom cos that was the rule lol)

I could have cheated easily for my university exams. I had a piece of paper with a past exam in my pocket when I went to the toilet. They could have easily been notes with answers or something. I just happened to have them in my pocket because I was revising outside the exam.

I've helped a friend cheat in my year nine Japanese exam, where we practically traded exam papers, LOL. I also could have cheated in the year 12 Methods trial exam, coz this guy's MC was in the open. I checked all his answers and he got like 10/20 (assuming I was right... which I was, haha).

yeah that's why they have to make them really tight for time. I know I couldn't have gone to the toilet in my legal exam cos I just wouldn't have had time.
Also they reckon the examiners can spot the people who are cheating, cos they look guilty or something.

lol our school gave us the topics a few days before the sacs

which ment everyone typed them up printed them out and put them in their pencil cases to copy out.

i've only cheated when i just NEED to pass, not to get extra marks for an a+
so i've done make-a-program-on-calc-with-notes thing

and our english language class had our sacs the day before the other class so our class always leaked the topics to them so they always cheated off us
i dunno why anyone in my class wanted to do this cos it just disadvantages us

If chem SACs are easy to cheat on that could be a good thing for me or it could also be a bad thing(if I know what is going on and most other people do not)

omg we are twins!
Except I have no idea what my one was about. All I remember is it had 39 questions on it.
We might have done other ones as well. Was near the start of the year.

I cheated in every single English SAC we had this year except for the trial exam we had during June.

I cheated on most Specialist SACS that were 2 classes or more

I cheated on most Chemistry SACS.

I cheated on most Japanese SACS.

I cheated on most Methods SACS.

but the teachers encouraged us to cheat. These sacs were spread out in 2 lessons. so basically you could just copy all the questions down in one class, do the sac at home and take our sac the following sac day. That's how our school operates. even though everyone cheats at my school (including myself) we all get shit marks. LOL

When we had sacs like that in spec, our teacher encouraged us for the last 5 minutes to write down the questions we hadn't done yet onto our calculator.
He took up our notebooks between each lesson and we couldn't bring paper etc into the next day, but was all good being on the calculator ^_^

I think I'm going to have to cheat on the year 11 English Exam I have tommrow.

We're allowed to bring in a dictionary into the exam, so I'm gonna write some quotes in some spaces in pencil with some pressure, then rub them out so the readable readable imprint is still there, so that anyone flipping through my dictionary or people sitting on the sides would be unable to see them.

I don't really mind.

There was a specialist maths application task worth 40 marks, spread over a week. Just go home and ring your tutor to give you the answers.

Sort of like the old CATs

I remember in year 8 we had an Italian oral test but we were running out of class time so the teacher called everyone at their house to do it. We were given a sheet of paper exactly the same as the test to practise and so everyone basically had the answers right in front of them while on the phone. The thing is, I didn't need to cheat because the test was pretty easy. I guess that just having the answers there is more of a confidence thing. Also, in year 11 English I had the language devices written in the back of my dictionary but I don't think I actually used the list at all, and I wrote them in there at the beginning of the year, so it wasn't like cheating was my intention. I can't recall cheating any time other than those, but I guess there could have been something back from primary school that I've forgotten.

I've never really needed to cheat. If I had ever needed to cheat it would probably be tempting though. I thought about it for the VCE exams, but doesn't everyone? In the end, though, it's not worth risking the entire year on a couple of extra marks and it's not worth the knowledge that you didn't earn your score. Besides, the exams don't lend themselves to cheating, the questions tend not to be straightforward and textbookish anyway. But it isn't that hard to cheat. In the Lit exam one of the people in my class turned up for the 30 minutes required to pass and wrote about 2 sentences. Most of those 30 minutes were spent texting people on her mobile phone. She wasn't cheating, but she could have been.
