Apparently, a friend of mine was overhearing a conversation with coordinators, and they said that VCAA called them in relation to my Italian Oral, and had commended me on how well I had done only 2 days after the Oral...!
I think there are 3 distinct things wrong with this:
1. I did TERRIBLY! I paused, faltered, mucked up my intro, said English words... Everything you are not supposed to do in an Oral!
2. Aren't you only meant to tell the assessors your student number? Not the school you go to, not your name, nothing. I know I didn't, as this invades privacy etc..
3. Why would they do this in the first place? I'm sure VCAA would keep results and not disclose this information.
Any ideas, or am I just overreacting? I didn't do well at all!

This sounds a bit fishy ... are you sure your friend didn't mishear?
Your examiners shouldn't know who you are. If they did, they should have had another examiner examine you instead (according to my teachers who were examiners).
-
I didn't know them at all... But I reckon she was lying... They can't disclose that information anyway! Thanks Ninwa!

People are strange, when you're a stranger.

The strangest of them all... :)
-
Why would the call though? Doesnt sound right
-
yeah, they have other work to do besides commending every student who does well on a particular exam..i would think!
-
happy dont panic or anything. just take it as it comes. u probably got all excited when u first got told hey? :P
I PERSONALLY think you woulda done well.
remember the faith i had? :P
we'll see it all revealed at the end of the year

maybe your friend was just trying to be nice to you..

maybe your friend was just trying to be nice to you..
but why say something like that. sure shes being nice... but to get someones hope up so falsely like that... this is a big deal to some people.

because she was trying to encourage happy, and make her feel better? that thought about falsey getting her hopes up probably never even crossed her mind
so I agree with jeffree, her friend was trying to be nice

O.o
i wouldnt say something like that to a friend. what if at the end of the year the mark didnt turn out so great "like her friend had said" [not saying it will happen to happy, coz i believe she woulda done great, ive said it countlessly to her previously]
thats just messing with something u shouldnt. saying something like " you probably did GREAT u have nothing to worry about" woulda been more encouraging i reckon.
lol as iff vcaa consultes a students teacher... ur only a number to them
-
I AM NOT A NUMBER!!
Oh... wait...
Don't fret any more bout it happy ^_^
U can't change it, and I think if u knew ur result then u wouldn't want 2.
Personally, I think u kicked ass.
Every1 gets nervous in an oral exam :)

Thanks guys! Now I feel a little better... She did get my hopes up though. :(
-
well keep them up :)
i bet you did soooo well. and u dont know it!
i got high hopes for you :)

I was called, but in February. This was in relation to my Music: Solo Performance oral exam - apparently I did well in it and was invited to sing at Top Class. I also felt that:
1. I did TERRIBLY! I paused, faltered, mucked up my intro, said English Forgot words, sung off pitch at times and paused too much in between songs to drink water.... Everything you are not supposed to do in an Oral singing performance!
tl;dr - you aren't necessarily the best judge of what the VCAA assessors thought of your performance.

Thanks Excalibur. Now I don't feel like I completely ruined my chances. :)
