Title: P values
Post by: jay426 on November 05, 2008, 10:39:05 pm
I've read from several sources that for results to be significant, it has to have a p value < .01. but i have also read in other sources that it is P< .05.

for proper psychology experiments, you're probably right. but according to the vcaa p < 0.05 is acceptable and considered statistically significant.

well p-values are a interesting thing actually... the standard is p < 0.05 even in professional psych journals, but there is criticism over the over-reliance of p-values within psych papers.

But for the puporse of VCE Psychology, p < 0.05 for statistical significance.
