If a question required the answer to the previous question to be solved, can you still gain marks if that previous question was wrong?
FUCK THOUGHT THE AREA OF THE TRIANGLE WAS 1/2 B X H OMFGGGGGG
-
i sure hope so
-
Yes, consequential marks, as long as it doesn't make the question easier etc
Also I did so crap! xD
-
isnt that the are of a triangle?
-
i defintely lost like 15 marks!!!!
what was the statistics for getting a b+ or A on last years exam 1?
anyone know??
-
last year's statistics for methods cas

on the statistics thingy....what arethe grade 1, grade 2, grade 3?
is grade 1 the eam 1 or somthing???lol
dont get ittt!!!

Perhaps a quick read of the titles may help...?
As for the exam, fuck Q9 - screwed that up bad. As well as Q4 (got it wrong the first time, continued on with the rest of the exam and didn't end up getting back to it)
-
I hate prism's for life. SCREW THE EGYPTIANS { i know its not a pyramid buT CLOSE NOUGH!!
-
Lol I was able to work backwards from part b) of that prism question to work out y in terms of x :P Lol at them giving us the TSA.
-
hey but on the statistics....exam 1 is out of 80????how does that work when there are only 40 marks obtainable?
-
hey but on the statistics....exam 1 is out of 80????how does that work when there are only 40 marks obtainable?
Probably cross marked..
-
I used .5bh but found h in terms of x and it worked for me
-
isnt that the are of a triangle?
No
I used heroin formual for that haha. Idk was bull shitting my way to an answer.
-

It would be wise not to question the VCAA overlords and just go by the score ranges (41-55/80 got you an B+ last year)
-
so if i divide the scores by 2 then i can compare right???

Yeah i tried doing that but fuck i suck at algebra.

SAY....if u lost 1 mark on the calc free and get 100% on the calc active ...wat r u looking at for a raw score?
assuming u kill all the SACs as well?
-
hey but on the statistics....exam 1 is out of 80????how does that work when there are only 40 marks obtainable?
just double it

lol near 50 probably..
-
a 50 no doubt lol
-
Area of triangle .. u could use
(1/2)bc sin A
.. i think =]
-
1/2 * base * height IS the area of a triangle
and you could do it from the diagram
it would have been (x times the square root of 3) divided by 4
-
hey what did everyone get for the 2nd traffic light question?
some poeple at our school were squaring the values or someshit. Why, i got like 0.0333 or 0.3 , something like that
-
i got 0.3
-
do u guys think this was easier/harder than last year
-
do u guys think this was easier/harder than last year
Harder for sure.
-
if it was harder, that means its better for us right.
-
do u guys think this was easier/harder than last year
About the same standard... only the last question was slightly difficult.. the rest were straightforward
-
i don't think it was harder but many people didnt finnsh so hopefully it will be better for us!!
-
hey but on the statistics....exam 1 is out of 80????how does that work when there are only 40 marks obtainable?
Probably cross marked..
Most subjects have two markers marking the paper(eg English). Mathematics on the other hand only requires one marker marking it. So they double the mark and that gets you the final raw score.

why will they double it if you dont get half marks?
-
yeah you get consequential as long as the complexity of the second question does not change
like
if the previous answer you got didn't make the next question easier or harder, you will gain full marks for the second question

If you apply for a statement of marks, your paper gets remarked again. For bio midyear last year, normally it's only marked once, but since I got a SoM, it got marked twice, and the marks given by the two examiners differed by 1 mark, so in effect, I got a half mark. Doubling the marks avoids this.
-
wait so are you saying all papers get marked at least twice....but getting a SoM means that it get marked again which may effect your marks for that subject and in effect, your enter???

No, most subjects get marked just once I think. Ones which get marked twice are the more subjective ones like English. As for the SoM, it may well affect your SS and ENTER, but in my case, I might've gained that half mark, or I might've lost it - it can go either way and in the end I wouldn't say it really matters.
-
i thought everything was marked at least twice????
-
VCAA cbf for maths and sciences I'm pretty sure. They just double it later.
-
delfos said it was easier
-
I dont think they mark it again for SoM shin. They have all the data ready in their comps- and just print if off
-
Nah I remember reading somewhere that they remark it. Hence why I had a half mark on my bio despite bio being a subject where it's only marked once.
-
any subject where there is only one answer eg maths accounting etc is only marked once.
subjects like english, business etc will be marked twice as your marks could be affected by the person who is correcting it

Wow... That's like, just over 50%... Now there is hope for me :smitten:
EDIT: I'm buying a statement of marks for each subject this year now... Goodbye $70... I'm gonna be so poor after this is over; hopefully it's worth it. :(

I like knowing exactly what I got, and not a rough estimation. I guess I'm just pedantic on that sort of stuff. Lol

hmmm ok then

can anyone tell me what my study score wud be if i get a B and B+ and A as my grade?
-
Bit more data for you bucket :)
I got:
GA1 B
GA2 B+
GA3 A
= 36
-
woooohoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!! wait, your talkin bout methods CAS right???
raw?
