Melb commerce offers actuary while Monash doesn't.

As of next year, you can do an Actuarial program.

The units are already there, it's just a certain combination so that you can get accredited.

The difference between the two is that at Monash, there is more scope to specialise than there is at Melbourne as you have to take quite a few units in breadth (in other words, units from other faculties).
That said, there are techniques for (sorta) avoiding it. I think brendan demonstrated one for those wanting to do Actuarial - do said stream of units in Commerce and take breadth in maths from Science.

1. it's just been incepted. And it hasn't been fully accredited

2. Melbourne's Actuarial centre was incepted in 1993 with graduates earning above-average salaries.
3. UoM has ties with FMAA and many other finance associations.
I don't mind other commerce courses at Monash, but it's inadvisable to enrol to the actuarial program now.

Point conceeded.
With other majors, Monash and UoM r pretty much on even ground when it comes 2 BCom.
Actuarial however, I would strongly recommend be done @ UoM until Monash gets professional accreditation.

Well not really.
Another important point is to consider the kind of people you will surrounded by. In UoM you will be surrounded by those with higher ENTERs, more motivated people.

high ENTER =! smarter people.
I might get a 91, but that does not mean i'm a dumb fag lol
But I get what you mean in general. The people in UoM are much more enthusiastic about their study :)

Be careful what you're accusing him of. One shouldn't deny the likelihood that there is a correlation between ENTER and motivation, but nobody said that ENTERs mean everything.

applexy,
you might not get that ENTER for your little commerce actuarial course at UoM so please stop cowgirl'ing the university like it's your girlfriend or something, you are embarrassing yourself.
But I get what you mean in general. The people in UoM are much more enthusiastic about their study :)
i mean cmon mate, seriously. what the fuck?
get a life, we get the point.
here's my advice: stop drifting around these forums defending your beloved UoM and maybe go out and discover new things, there's a world outside UNIVERSITY OF MELBOURNE COMMERCE ACTUARIALS
if in case you don't get your ENTER and not make it to UoM, please don't feel like a drongo when you get laughed at.
i like u but your incessant bare-backing of a university course makes you sound like a downer.
