Post by: ahmed on November 11, 2008, 06:44:30 pm
Q10 and 11. Don't understand the transmission line stuff and how to calculate it.
Can ANYone plz explain how to get the answers. The assessment report gives only a one line answer aswell as itute.

well u use the transformer eqn to get A2 = 2.5

then u work out voltage drop in the lines to be v=IR
and u can see its 10v at v primary and therefore 2v at v secondary

Mate go to itute.com and check out their solutions or if you have checkpoints, they have a copy of the 07 exam in the back so you can check their answers too. Both are much better than the VCAA answers

Eddy Currents
Circulating electrical currents that are induced in electrically conductive elements when exposed to changing magnetic fields, creating an opposing force to the magnetic flux. Eddy currents can be harnessed to perform useful work (such as damping of movement), or may be unwanted consequences of certain designs, which should be accounted for or minimized.

You don't need to know about eddy currents.

In VCAA land your transformers are ideal.
