The only in-print EL textbook I know of is the Heinemann, which is rubbish. It's basically useless; doesn't describe anything in the detail needed. And sometimes doesn't even explain at all.
Macmillan used to publish one I think, and you can now get it on CD. It's about 100x as useful as the Heinemann.
Some schools also use Sara Thorne's "Mastering Advanced English Language", which although not based on VCE EL, is still very useful, covering a lot of what we do.
I also found Wikipedia to be a valuable resource.

Heinemann
Macmillan
Mastering Advanced English Language
Insight's "VCE English Language Exam Guide" by Kirsten Fox (practice questions etc.)
And one secret tip I have for you, as a UMEP Linguistics student...go to the University of Melbourne's bookshop, and buy the course book for the Semester 1 subject (you'll need to get this book in Semester 1 if you want it because it's a first semester only subject) called "Introduction to Language". The course code is 175-105 and the subject reader usually has a red cover...you'll find it somewhere in the bookshop or ask! We did this as our Semester 1 subject for UMEP, and although it does venture out of VCE English Language's scope a fair bit, the subject reader is really helpful for getting your head around metalanguage and helping you study each subsystem! It also gives you some relevant extra knowledge that can be impressive if you use it appropriately in the exam. :)

That book is fantastic, found it in my library today. Gonna summarise it over the holidays.

Ring up Landmark, Academic and General or Campion and ask if they have any in stock.
If not, you should be able to order the the CD-rom directly through Macmillan. Contact them and enquire on how to purchase it.

Alternatively, see if your school has it on their network. Mine did, so I copied it onto a USB and took it home for easy access :D

I've got a copy of Sara Thorne's book for sale @ $25, if anyone is interested.
I too recommend this book. It seems the Heinemann book just took out chunks of this 'bible' and reworded it.
