Title: what's the diff btwn a decision-making strategy and a ploblem-solving strategy
Post by: akkxn on November 13, 2008, 08:00:19 pm
Can I use SADIM for both?

In the 06 assesors report, the steps to problem solving had "Identify the problem" as the first step.

Should I learn doddse as well or are they all the same...

decision making and Problem solving are the same thing. Never reccomend both because you will get 1 mark.

Set objects
developing and finding alternatives
evaluate the alternatives
implement  the decision
follow up on the decision to check if it was sucessfull

that is both. I repeat never reccoment both of the thinking it's one this. DODDSE is planning.

I used SADIM for both planning and decision making, as you never list them and the steps are practically identical.

Well if the question asks, suggest a problem-solving strategy for blah blah blah you don't go:

Ohai, to problem solve do this:
Set objectives
Analyse the current situation
Develop alternatives
Implement the solution
Monitor and evaluate the results

You would write something more, involving practical examples from the text at each stage.

hahaha alright. I wasn't too far off the mark then cos I've just listed each one and provided a practical example of how it is used in the particular organisation(in each step)

You know you can use DODDSE wisely if you forget what the things are because if you think about it it's the same thing.
