Lets see who can get closest! :D
I predict 90.50
:)
(and if there is a similar thread... my bad! I didn't see it!)

Geez, smart forum so far ;)
-
Not really. All four of us are below the VN average last year. We are bringing the average down!

LOL. Cant wait for the 99.95 predictions then :D
-
what was the average last year?
-
what was the average last year?
median would have been low 98s off the top of my head. mean a bit lower (95-96)

last year the site was a lot smaller/exclusive. now there is a wider variety of backgrounds. I'd be suprised if it didn't get a fair bit lower :P (though still above 90)
if we were a school last year we had a higher median SS than macrob/mhs.
-
that's really good.
-
I think with my 4 subjects, probably in the 80s.

translation: a lot more DUMB people are on the site now who will drag the marks down. :) LOL JOKES
-
Less than 30 :( nah. somewhere in the 70-80 range hopefully... its not looking good though.. see December 15th thread.
-
All I know is, some people are up for a shock on December 15.

80% of my legal class wants 40+
They have no idea :D

I'll predict monday night, when my last exam is over yay

99.95

wanted 95, pretty much wont happen now..
I reckon 93.2

89.95 :(
I had a dream that I'll get that :P
-
100

umm 90.65
-
Oh, THIS thread again.
Bloody 08ers :P
I was off last year... I thought *mayb* I'd scrape a 92.

lol I hope i'm off too then :D
-
I'm predicting 97.5 - I was after a 98+ but after my exams I really doubt my chances of getting there.
-
95.
Thats my aim anyway, and thats the middle of the two values I get from the calculators!
Heres to wishful thinking. I need 93.5, so would be happy with 93.55!!
-
86.55
Was hoping for 90+ but that dream was dashed with just a C+ in physics midyear. And I choked MAJORLY on methods exam 2. Was hoping for a study score of 45 but dropped that down to 35 now lol. Dunno what I'm doing next year yet. Should probably decide soon ;).
Good luck everyone!!
-
I was 0.05 off the score I predicted after exams. w00t.
-
I was 0.05 off the score I predicted after exams. w00t.
thats pretty amazing! i was .45 off
-
I feel I'm going to predict my ENTER horribly wrong for some reason... :-(
-
i'm thinking 85.10.... english will drag me down :(
-
I was 0.05 off the score I predicted after exams. w00t.

Wow... I was off by like 6 lol... You guys were pretty accurate :)
-
I was 0.05 off the score I predicted after exams. w00t.
I was 1.55 off :P
enwiabe I believe predicted his exactly
-
It's weird though cos I was really close with the ENTER but miles off with the individual subject scores. I was expecting 45 for spec, 45 for eng, 40 for french...
It is much easier to predict your scores when you've already done two 3/4s in yr11. Plus the difference in aggregrate between a 99.5 and a 99.6 is pretty major, so it's easier to estimate high end scores that way.
Either way, you sold yourself way short with your estimate :P
-
Haha, I was the opposite. I pretty closely predicted most of my subject scores but my ENTER was way off xD
-
Didn't spend enough time on VCE SAM on BoS then :P My friends and I had it down to a fine art, predicting study scores... Or so we thought, anyway.
-
I hope I'm close to 70 :) That would be cool. :)
-
^ 70 would be awesome. how accurate does everythine think the enter calc is? i used it in conjunction with the ss calc of mao's, and it brings up an awesomely awesome figure that amazed me. can we count on them?
-
^ We simply can't. ;)
-
yeah, I put my scores into it and the ENTER it generated was accurate to within about 0.2
EDIT: actually it was 100% accurate wow
-
yeah, I put my scores into it and the ENTER it generated was accurate to within about 0.2
But you know your scores, Ninwa. I'm scared to use it because I will probably predict too high and then get disappointed on results day. :(

wow ninwa thats comforting. i used the marks i already knew as well as very low expectations for the ones i dont know.
i <3 pessimism.
either way, it says ill get > what i need.
:D
let us pray.

That's why you do several scenarios, ranging from worst case to best case.

I don't even have a best case scenario, because I just know something really bad is going to happen on results day. :( Best case scenario for me is 70. :) That is all I want, I want to see if I can get it!
-
what course do you want to do happy? i cant remember.
-
Law at La Trobe... Lol, only a distant dream for me now. :(
-
nice. whats the enter for that?
-
97.40... :'(
-
ahhh. i envy you people who dream about getting into courses like that. truelly gifted.
-
The problem is, I have no hope in hell of getting it! I think I'm going to change my first preference tonight. :P
-
zomg change of preference is open today!!!!!!!!
thanks for reminding me!!
-
Hehe, no problem. :)
-
just changed my preferences :)
so much fun.
spur of the moment addition to my list, hope it's a good choice!!
that's second pref though, fingers crossed for first!!!
-
After using Mao's SS calculator and the ENTER calculator, I'm hoping for about a 91.
-
The problem is, I have no hope in hell of getting it! I think I'm going to change my first preference tonight. :P
Don't change your top preference yet! You never know what you'll get and if it does turn out that you get 70, you can change it after results.
-
Does it cost more to change prefrences now?
and omg 14 days :D
-
I'm going to say.... 90.2
However... I don't think this will be close to the mark. I think I'll either really dissapoint myself or suprise myself. Lets hope for the latter.
-
Does it cost more to change prefrences now?
nope.
-
over 9000 0.05
-
over 9000 0.05
plus 99.90

no way :(

Lol, of course it would be! You have worked hard all year, you deserve to be VN dux for 2008. :P
-
over 9000 0.05
LOL i like the over 9000 joke :D

Well, I guess I can leave it, on the odd occasion that I actually get 97.40.. :)
-
I know I'll get somewhere within the domain [75.00,80.00). I need to go and buy large quantities of alcohol before D-Day...

Lol, I kind of, somehow, strangely, missed mathematical terminology! :O
-
I'll try and make study score predictions and see how close/far off I am (although tbh I don't really know how to predict.)
Literature - 32
Psychology - 42
Biology - 35
Health and Human Development - 48 (definite - already completed '06)
=Aggregate: 157.6
ENTER: 88.00
ENTER still sounds a bit too high though
-
accounting - 41 --> 42 (year 11)
esl - 43 ---> 44
bm - 44 ---> 41.8
further - 42 ---> 40.4
methods - 27 ---> 33.6
chem - 22 ---> 24.8
aggregate = 174 which is 94.90 :( need 95. let's see what happens.
-
Let me predict one more time (but now, I'm slightly more optimistic. :))
Psychology - 30 (done this in 07)
English - 31 (sweet if I got this!)
Italian - 35 ( I think I done well in the exam)
Legal - 35
Methods - 25 (being happy about it :))
Specialist: 20 (surely I got this :))
Aggregate: 141.7 ENTER: 78.40 (I'd die happy if I got this! :smitten:)
-
hmmmm
bio 38 --> 39 (did last year)
english 40 (fingers crossed)
lit 30 (lol, no practice exams and no effort!)
psych 47 (a+ on mid years, near 100% on sacs)
legal 39
hnh 39 (i drew cartoons on the paper!)
i need 94.8... not gonna happen, better be really drunk before results!!
-
accounting - 41 --> 42 (year 11)

I think you'll get better than 22 in Chem

haha i dunno, i got a C+ exam 1 and probably 20/79 for the second paper. with a SAC avg of like 45-50%. hoping that the C+ pulls me up. as long as i dont get less than 22 -_-
-
I am pissed about spesh. Exam 1 fcked me up big time. I was looking for around 40 study score raw.
Now i would be rapt with likr 34-35
Can any1 predict me a SS btw for spesh?
My SACS were 85% average
exam 1- 16-17/40 (lol i know thats bad)
Exam- 64/80
Thats an averaall 80/120 for exam which is 67%
Wat study score am i looking at?

Here goes nothing
English:31 (long shot)
Physics: 42
Methods: 44
Spec:40
Further:47
ENTER: 95.6
Need 91.2 for my second pref and 97.XX for my first one, but no longer want my first pref (cant be bother doing 5 years, and i wont get it anyway).

Lol, I reckon you will get higher than that for English, Frederick! You should have no problem getting into your first preference. :)

No way! My english is ok but i didnt do a thing during the year. Basically showed up to the SAC's having done some reading the night before. I averaged (50-55)% on the sacs and possibly similar in the exam. Surely that wouldnt get me anything over 30?
-
Well, according to http://www.vcaa.vic.edu.au/vce/statistics/2007/section3/vce_english_ga07.pdf (VCAA statistics from 2007), you would get grades such as C+, C+ and possibly a D+ to C in the end of year. So judging by this, you may be able to scrape the 30 region, it just depends how lenient the examiners were towards your actual exam. All the best, I'm sure you did much better than you anticipated. :)
-
ill be happy with a 30. Thanks for the info!
-
C+ wont get u a 30. More like a B.
-
We don't know how VCAA runs... Anything is possible... :)
-
We don't know how VCAA runs... Anything is possible... :)
Umm, if you look at bell curve distribution and from past examples, the B range is usually the maximum of the graph. (30 range)
-
But if someone got all high C+'s, then surely a 30 is possible, I mean 1 mark off a B?
-
Feeling a little weird that most people here are aiming for 90+ ..
Anyway 83 is my guess, although 85 would be aweshum.
-

I guess that's the VN way, no?
70 is stilll my aim to this day. :) (Don't really care anymore, as I already got into my course. :))
-
i dont give a shit either. because i know for sure ill get >75 which i need for my course, so its just a bit of fun.
but i do hope i get 40+ in something and get my name in the paper
-
nothing left now guys!
-
i wish the ss calculator was true!
-
i wish the ss calculator was true!
Mao's ss calculator is pretty accurate right? Since according to that, I'll get exactly what I want.
-
^ me too. it seems tgoo good to be true
-
its accurate if you can accurately predict what marks you will get......
-
its accurate if you can accurately predict what marks you will get......
spot on
-
it seems so high though!
-
^ i know! for example, i know my english marks. but i can only guess my exam mark. my pessimism expects a b, and with that i do better than expected. insane.
-
REMEMBER, you DONT know your sac marks... they get moderated.
EG:
i got A+ in every Further sac last year,
got A's on both exams, and ended up with "A" as my SAC mark, despite getting A+ on every single one.
-
ewww. i hate the way the whole vce system works. its ment to be fair, but how can your own personal score be determined by your cohort and al that jazz? it just sucks. it makes we people in the "working class" areas fail at life.
-

Lol, fair call... The system is somehow rigged... ;)
-
remember u may have got A+'s all year in english, and myself C+'s
however VCAA have no way of monitoring the SCHOOL ASSESSED CRITEREA.
for you to get an A+, u may have just had to write 5 words on the paper, whereas for me to get a C+, i may need an amazingly sophisticated analytical piece.
that wouldn't be fair, if u did got A+ for sacs, and I got C+ despite me actually doing far better quality work than you
-
I am going to get an enter of a billion and i plan to study ur mum at uni.
-
vcaa should give the sacs to schools..
-
vcaa should give the sacs to schools..
Then every SAC will be a VCAA exam =\ Everyone must do it at the same time; If you miss it, you can't do it at a later time etc.

Because at the moment im in a pessimistic mood ill reconsider and say ENTER of 87 for me.
BTW BACK FROM SCHOOLIES WOOOOOOWHOO

Yeh I choked major on further SAC's last year at best 5th-6th out of 40 or so students but then I absolutely raped exams and got A+ for all

Yep my english marks are like B, but we are told they should go up to at least an A because they
a) Mark super harshly.
b) out school does well
Here's hoping anyway! :P

-
Who's getting nervous? :S (I'm not really, but I like suspense. :P)
LMAO exact same feeling.
Actually, I am a bit nervous now. I did shit all work all year (like literally, excluding the weeks before exams I did like 1 hour a week work). Ahhhhh!

91 I think.

Agh shit.
I mean 73.45
I was using my iPod touch. Hard to type on. ;)

I keep putting in my worst case scenarios and its not giving me a shit ENTER. Maybe I am over confident :(

Ill be happy with 80+

Anything above 90 would be awesome.

83.45

Another prediction for me: 90! Yay, I'm getting more confident as we speak. :D

Yeah from 70 to 90 haha that's a big hurdle.

Lol, ever since that wooden spooner thread, I have realised that I don't sincerely believe I will be the VN wooden spooner. I guess the less I think about, the higher my expectations rise. :)
@ Cobby: Thank you :D

Lol, ever since that wooden spooner thread, I have realised that I don't sincerely believe I will be the VN wooden spooner. I guess the less I think about, the higher my expectations rise. :)
@ Cobby: Thank you :D
So were you actually pulling our leg as to how badly you normally do in Math? Since you did admit your tendency to exaggerate in another thread.
Well, not when it comes to maths... I PHAIL maths. :P... I guess for every other subjects it is a fair playing field. :)

Thats not very good when you're doing two math, huh. :P At least Italian gets scaled a bunch.

Haha, I chose maths, ironically, for the scaling. :S (Won't even get it the way I went. :()
Yeah, I'm pretty good in Italian (the only reason I done it was because I am Italian. :P And the scaling is just a bonus. :D) SO hoping for the best in it. :)

Well, it depends how good you are at the language. I personally hope for 35 in it because I've been averaging around B+'s to A's throughout the year, and maybe a bit less on the exam... Bad listening task. :S But overall, it would be awesome if I 40'd Italian, but it is a highly unlikely possibility. :P
-
Alana, you have been getting B+'s and A's in a really hard language and you were predicting around 70 for your ENTER in other threads! That's ridiculous. I know you may not be excellent at your maths subjects, but you'll easily get over 85+ with the marks you are getting, and the amount your subjects scale. I can't wait until results day when i ask you what you got and you say like 95. Haha, what a great day that will be :)
-
True, Alana deserves much more than she initially predicted!
-
Haha, you guys are too nice. :smitten:

84.95

Eh I wouldn't put so much pressure on happy, If her school is as bad as she makes out Bs and As in SAC's might count for nothing when exam scores are taken into consideration. Not that it really matters when she already has an offer for law :D. I think I might have already made a prediction for my ENTER but I think I might do some SS predictions.
Methods 46
Spec 40
Physics 38
English 38
Psychology 36
Those are raw. Now let us pray :P

Is that a bad thing for her?

I made a very comprehensive list of predictions which include a study score for every subject followed by the GA1/GA2/GA3 grades. Yes, I'm sad like that, but it'll be fun (or depressing, depending on how it turns out) comparing reality to my own perception :D
-
If I dont get AT LEAST a 50 for English Ill be angry :P

don't worry, I did a similar thing as well :P

In 1ish day we will know and this predicting madness will finally stop once and for all! (I can't wait for that day!)
-
OMG WHY AM I NERVOUS? IM NOT SPOSED TO CARE ABOUT MY ENTER! AHHHH LOL.
-
Bleh I'll finally take a shot at this <_<
99.10
-
87 point something (likely...I hope)
95.5 (best case)
82 (worst case)
-
95.6
Depends on english, sometimes it gets scaled down 1 which can be a difference in getting 94 and 95 and thus missing out on biomed at melbourne. :(
-

Modest.

Yeah, my score largely depends on English. There's almost a 2 point difference.
-
God I jsut want to get into my top preference.
-
87 point something (likely...I hope)
95.5 (best case)
82 (worst case)
OMG so similar.
81 Worst Case.
93 Best Case.
88 Realistically. I'd love 90, and need 85! AHHHH!
-
So glad there is no stress on me :smitten:... Gong to sit back and enjoy the ride. :)
-
^^ You must be the happiest person in the world right now :P
-
Hehe, my name can be changed back to 'xox.HAPPY1.xox. :D
-
In reality this number does not define you whatsoever. But it does to quite a few! oh well
worst case: 96.25
Best case [OMG PLZ]: 98.4
I'd personally be disappointed if i got my worst case. but how good a 'score' is, is entirely subjective. 96.25 maybe fking amazing to some ppl and it may be absolutely shit to others!
Good luck with the future. VCE is not perfect!
-
True Enter: 97.35
i typed my ss in the entercalc.us.to and it gave the same enter. pretty fkn accurate.
-
94.50
this is one game i dont wanna win
sweet i was wrong, so very wrong
-
Alright, I've finished all mine.
english: 27 39
specialist: 32 35
physics: 38 37 :(
economics: 36 44
methods: 31 31 (did last year)
business: 35 37
enter: 85 (not so much an aim as a necessity) 95
that's what I got using entercalc/subjectcalc, though the non-maths subjects could be anything.
It'll be interesting to see what I actually end up getting. *bookmarked*
Way off, for now. (not official)

Lmao. Almost got my worst case. 82. hahaa

Hey I was quite close. Only .85 off! Pity it was under!
Guessed 95 - Got 94.15

Lolz at your Italian prediction. In my experience (I was expecting 40 for French and only got 33 :( ), you rarely do nearly as well in languages as you might expect to.
