Hey gents, quick question, say I was offered a Hall residence spot (catered or noncatered) instead of my first pref, Burgmann. Is it possible to change between them? Like if a spot opened in Burgmann, could I transfer across? It is suggested in other threads that you can, but how does your contract with your current residence work? I would have thought they wouldn't be keen on canceling it.

You can apply to transfer from one college to another at the end of each year. I wouldn't think if you were to turn down your first offer that you'd have any chance of getting into another college instead though.

Yes I did read this, they only give one accommodation offer. So if you decline your offer you have to find accommodation yourself off-campus.

I was just a tad confused because someone recounted a story in another thread about a friend who was at Fenner or BG and continually enquired at Burgmann for the first couple of weeks of term and eventually received a spot and transferred.

I have a friend who was in at UniLodge and bothered Burgmann for the first few weeks until she was given a place, but she still had to accept the UniLodge offer and live at UniLodge for the first few weeks of term (and find someone else to take her UniLodge room). It's not guaranteed, and I'd imagine preference would go to the students staying at hotels, but it's definitely worth a shot.
