Title: The picky stuff of specialist maths?
Post by: dekoyl on December 08, 2008, 10:59:20 am
Having done methods, I've been drilled with all the picky stuff that's required by my teacher and I was wondering if its required in specialist. For example:
*Finding the stationary point: "At stationary point, "
*Similarly with x/y intercepts: "At x-intercept, y = 0 = "
                                             "At y-intercept, x = 0: y = "
*Labeling all x and y intercepts with their coordinates on the curve
*Labeling minimum/maximum coordinates

I'm sure there's a few more but I can't remember  ::)

I think also finding the double derivative can determine if stationary points exist without resorting to the gradient table...

Everything else seems right. :D

Hm... yes. It is still necessary to explain your thought process in Specialist.

For example, you should never swap and around for no reason, without writing "Finding the inverse" or something that describes what you're doing.
