i need a new phone. i have up to $500. what should i get? (i generally like nokias)
-
ooooo... iPhones. Sadly very difficult to use in Australia *sigh*.
-
iPhone? Nah, aesthetics-/hype-wise they are sweet, but the functionality doesn't rival any phone currently on the market. They can't for example send/receive MMS, doesn't support UMTS/HSDPA (3G, so high-speed Internet and video calls aren't possible), and *currently* third-party application support is limited to web-based applications (an SDK is due to be released next year but there will never be support for J2ME).
I like to think of the iPhone as a hot chick with no personality. :P

iphones are rubbish lol, where are the buttons :(
im thinking of getting an n80, thoughts?
-
Nokia N80 seems good. If you can afford an extra $230, you can get a Nokia N95 through http://insanemobile.com - mine arrives Thursday, can't wait!
-
just bought the n80 off ebay for $420 + $24 postage :D
-
Schweet. Is it new or used?
-
new, $444 including shipping. pearl black & free upgrade to internet edition
EDIT: call me ben :)
-
Awesome.
My Nokia N95 arrived today, it's freakin' sweet! I love it like a fat kid loves chocolate! :P
-
i hate you :(
-
n80 is soo bad. it is too thick; they are rolling them out since there is the WICKED-looking new n81; WAY better than the n95 excpet for the camera. Plus, it's got hard drive storage
-
too thick? its like 2cm thick...anything under that is a pain in the ass to hold if you have average-large hands
aaaanyway...i got jibbed. the phone is the chinese one and has this problem where it scrolls down constantly without being touched. im going for a refund and gunna buy it elsewhere.

samsung U700, it takes a while to get used to the touch buttons but otherwise the camera is sweet and its pretty good :)
or try waiting for the new sony ericssons which are coming out end of this yr or start of next yr. namely the k850i with the 5 megapixel camera or the w960i which has 8gb of onboard memory :)
nokia n81 and n82 (coming soon) look pretty sweet as well, the n82 has a 5 megapixel camera and a damn good flash, better than the n95s
-
I need a new phone too, my Sony Ericsson Z550i is acting stupid and likes turning off when people try to call :P
The Nokia N95 looks good, I might consider it once I get more money :)
-
The Nokia N95 is awesome, highly recommend it. My only complaint is that I haven't yet managed to get the GPS working - although I've only given it 30 seconds to connect to the satellite, so perhaps I need more patience.
I don't like the iPhone, it's aesthetics are to boot, but functionality is poor.
-
have any of you guys who claim to not like the iphone actually played around with it?

Nope. The thing can't send MMS, no Java, etc.
-
ah k well ive had a bit of a go using it, personally i dont use MMS and all that, but i did think it was a decent piece of tech :P the whole touch interface was just too cool haha
for a 2 megapixel camera the quality was surprisingly good too. but hey who knows a new version will probably be released before it comes to australia with all the features you want :P
