Update.

Cast as Zeke which I am really happy about because its not too much stress on me. Its a "lead" but a lesser lead if you are unaware of the character. He's the black guy that loves to bake HAHA

Woo
Next year July in Dandenong @ the Drum Theatre.

Oh wow congrats ^_^ what's this for again? the actual highschool musical 3, or something else? lol

Its our school production. High School Musical - The Musical. Basically an adaptation from the first movie that incorporates all the songs and characters etc. This year was the first year in decades that our school didn't do a production because they were saving up and getting ready to pull this on us! HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL lol. The magnitude of this musical is highlighted by the fact that in 2006 our musical was in the GYM for 2 nights or something and this time it is at the DRUM THEATRE for 5 nights.

http://www.greaterdandenong.com/Documents.asp?ID=3571&Title=Photo+Gallery

Photo gallery above. Wooo WHooo excited haha. BTW ive never done anything like this and now this guy that missed out on the lead that I got is trying to force me to quit the production so he can be in my role because hes pissed off that I got it over him hahah.

He sent me a myspace msg saying.
"you know about rehearsals yeah?
its every tuesday and thursday night until 7ish or later!
um most lunchtimes duing school
and sundays more then likely
aswell
think you can cope?"

LOL

Title: Re: High School Musical

Post by: Rietie on February 02, 2008, 05:16:29 pm
I feel sorry for you to act in such a lame musical. My feelings are based on my school last year putting on the musical with St. Kevin's. The most funny and sad thing I've ever seen. Probably because the two main characters couldn't act and the main male couldn't hit any of the high notes. And in the finale, everyone had to sing, and everyone kept on forgetting the lines to the song. It's an awesome movie though (the first movie - second one was shit).

LOL!!!
Our cast is awesome. Like its a super cast. Troy and Gabriella are a guy and a girl who can do the works, sing, dance and act.

Our school is pretty big on 'The Arts'. The person who is producing this whole thing is an actual musical producer who has her own musical production company, with many productions being sighted in various media.

Also the fact that its going to be at the Drum Theatre shows how much effort they are putting into this.

lol

LOL. You've been cast into a musical that you don't even know the plot of? Oh dear...haha

Which company
are you doing this with? DTC? or with school?

I personally think it's a fairly average musical...but it seems to be the craze atm. hah. It's the kind of musical that *can* be O.K, but can be easily stuffed up with a bad cast. It, as most of the 'new generation' musicals are, low on chorus cast and high on lead/supporting characters (ie, less cast). So yeah, you'd going to have more focus on inter-character interactions and character development.

Whatever the case, best of luck in your production - and let us know when it happens. I might just take the 5 minute drive from the north of Dandenong to have a look (provided tickets are reasonable ;P). Mind you, it's gotta be big budget if you've booked out the Drum though!

Welcome to theatre ;)...where no-one goes on Wednesday.

I will do the typical amateur thespian thing and rock up, hoping there are tickets at the door. You better impress, just because I have *very* high standards :P

For your benefit I'll just confirm that tickets will be sold at the door (it seem's obvious but I'll just check)

Haha. I don't know how impressive it will be but some of the songs we hav got down really well. ie the singing/dancing is all working really well.

heres the email the director sent me in late may. (L)

Appreciate the heads up, I had checked that out in the diary and while I've
got your attention I'd just like to tell you how happy I am with all the
work you have put in and what you are doing on stage - you are fantastic and
are one of the few who has not let me down - it is much appreciated - and
you should consider doing some amateur theatre after you leave school as
your voice is very good - let me know if you are interested

What you reckon? Maybe do some amateur theatre after year 12? ;)

Why not?

You'll find that you'll frequently get a show as a guy...there is a general male shortage in the amateur theatre community. Another thing you find is a lot of them are of the non-hetero persuasion.

Ok, spoke to the director today. Tickets will be available at the door IF there are available seats (ie. not sold out)

Saturday is now selling upper decking because bottom level is sold out except for a few single seats here and there.
If you're considering coming but wanna be a 'rock up on the night' sorta person, then your best chances are wed, thurs and maybe even friday you schold be ok.

if any nites are 100% sold out in a week and a half from now, ill post it here to avoid dissapointment but by the sounds of things we have one  MAYBE attending from VN

A Musical to be remembered
7th August 2008 11:00:21 AM

STANDING ovations, curtain calls and raucous laughter in a world-class theatre.

Secondary school students from St John’s Regional College experienced all of that after last week’s outstanding performances of Disney’s High School Musical at the Dandenong Drum Theatre.

As many as 70 students involved themselves in acting, backstage, lighting, costumes and make-up, sacrificing Sundays and lunchtimes for the past 20 weeks to ensure that last week’s four performances of the hit musical left audiences gobsmacked by their quality.

High School Musical is based in the United States, where Troy, captain of the school basketball team, falls in love with singing after performing a duet with a girl named Gabriella.

Teacher Lee Geraghty directed the production, while art teacher Anne Aldis managed the stage.

Ms Aldis said the students had an ‘absolute ball’ working on the production, and that it all came together on opening night as they had wished.

“You always ask yourself what’s the best thing you remember about high school and the answer is never something in the classroom – it’s always extracurricular,” Ms Aldis said.

“Students will remember this forever.”

Drum Theatre technicians were on hand to help students learn about the stage production process.

All the hard work was worth it according to Ms Aldis, with audiences – including primary school students – loving every moment of the production.

This is more for excal, but I'll post it here anyway:

remember a few months ago, me talking about amateur theatre.
Well auditions were last weekend. I didn't go. But the lead guy in our schools one went and he got a call that he's got the role. The director asked me to come see her so I went and saw her yesterday. She asked me to be in the show (Leader of the Pack) even though I didn't audition.

:)

Amateur theatre here I come haha
