I wanted to do biomed need 95. But i got 93.75. Can i still get into the biomedicine course 2nd year?
Edit; AT UOM that is.
I am thinking of doing biomed science at monash (needs 91) and then transfer down to melb since its much closer.
-
my advice is to get into anything that is related to that course (the monash course sounds good) and try your hardest to do well and just transfer after a year. that path seems to be the norm these days. its great really. but if it means getting into what you want, why not!

Just do science at Melbourne and do the same subjects that you would do in biomed

Yeah that's probably the best way to go... but um a friend of mine got into biomed at UoM with an ENTER of 94 (this year)... So you -might- be able to get in? I don't know if it changed for next year though... Good luck :D
-
It will only get higher this year. I am still unsure about doing either med or biomed engineering, the melbourne model wud have been perfect.

+1. You can take all the biomed majors in a Bsc, and even more options available if you change your mind

Isnt it true that if u do one year at any other institution, u have to start all over again when u transfer into UoM because with the new Melbourne Model they dont recognise study at other institutes?

How can i do the same subject? Also, do we choose our first year subjects?

Wat?? Thats fcked.
-
So can i transfer between faculties then? Like from science to biomedicine? I just want to be recognised as a biomed student rather then a science one.

That's what I've heard too...
I'd advise to transfer between faculties rather than universities, if you still want to get into biomed :D

Pretty sure that's true. Planning to do it just to get into Monash law. XD

1. Find a course that will offer similar subjects to Biomed.
2. Check with the head of the faculty/course coordinator that you can actually transfer.
3. Apply for an internal transfer
[Hopefully achieving good scores in your first year or so you'll be able to transfer into biomed]
Please bare in mind that I'm not exactly familiar with UoM's procedures, but that's usually how it goes. ^_^
-
I shouldn't even be doing law with my ENTER (shhhhhh...)... But my school sucks, so I get certain privileges! :D
-
Thanks a lot odette.
I most likely wont get in. But is there still a tiny chance i could get in? Say through fringe?
And btw whats SEAS?
EDIT again: seeing i only missed out by 1.25% ENTER
-
You -might- be able to get in, seeing that your ENTER wasn't that much off the clearly in ENTER...
SEAS is... the Special Entry Access Scheme... SEAS is for applicants who have been disadvantaged in their access to education. SEAS has two parts to it: Access and Equity and Year 12 Special Consideration. Year 12 Special Consideration and SEAS is centrally assessed at VTAC and is available through the VTACsystem. [From the RMIT website]
Hope that helps ^_^

Hmm...so is it still possible to get into a course if you missed out the clearly in by a fraction lower? Cause i'm lacking 0.8 points to get into the course I want.

Yep it's possible... did you apply for SEAS?
-
Nope, couldnt apply for it. Not eligible.

If it happens that you don't get into biomed and you are doing science at UoM (if you can do similar/same subjects, that would be the best way to go), contact people from the biomed faculty. Ask them what would be the best subjects to do if you wish to apply for an internal transfer after the first year. Don't just guess at it.
Also, don't put all your eggs in one basket and be destroyed if you're unable to transfer (don't start a degree you ultimately don't like in other words). If you do well enough this shouldn't be a problem though =]

Martin, does your Kwong Lee Dow thingy help at all?
Or is it just like more of an incentive to go to UoM
-
It only helps if I get 95. Which gurantees a spot regardless. Alas, i didnt get 95 =(
