Ok here's the deal i was speaking to my mother earlier and she offered to rent a place for me to go live in... question is should i go? i'm not really sure if i should go live by myself yet, i dunno if i'm ready to...
What do you guys think ?
Thanks =)
-
Stay home, wait till you're a bit older
-
Yeah that's what I was thinking lol...
-
Mhm. well, if you're socio-economic circumstances are bad, moving out to the uni residential place could be fun.
But, personally, I won't go until I get a full-time job lolz.
-
Yeah I always planned on moving out once I finished uni lol ... maybe I should wait :)
-
If they're offering to pay, I'd do it!
but I really don't enjoy my home life - lot's of fighting.
-
I would move out, personally. It's not like you'd be all by yourself 24/7, you could invite friends around. Then again, I really like independence, so I may not be the best person to ask.

do you want to go???
-
Yeah I do want to leave, my parents are treating me quite terribly lately, and now that my sisters are home things are getting a little out of hand... oh and not to mention my dads sister and her husband a living with us for a bit...
Yeah i'm quite independent too Erin... i would love to have my own place i just don't know if i'm ready to move out yet though ..
-
Why is it just assumed that you have to rent out a place by yourself =)
Maybe a friend you know of wants to move out? Or maybe you can move in as a roomate with someone. Cheaper and more sociable =)
Also the possibility of moving closer to Uni.
-
If you aren't sure, is it possible to try it for a little while and see if you like it before making a more permament decision?
-
Ahh i've asked my friends they dont want to move out yet... :(
maybe finding a place near uni will be ok lol
Yeah I might do that Erin... need to ask my mum first :) lol
-
If they're offering to pay, I'd do it!
Yeah! That's the main thing that prevents me from doing it (as well as the fact that the benefit from moving out is subsidised by the fact that I have a peaceful family these days).
-
Like Eriny said, there's no harm in giving the idea a test run.
That way you don't feel obliged to be "locked in" to one arrangement.
-
Give it a shot.
-
I would go for it, especially as your parents are willing to pay - prime opportunity to strike out on your own without getting too bogged down by financial considerations! Also consider your own happiness I guess ... if your parents are making you miserable then it's probably better to get away.
Then again like Eriny I'm also very independent and would LOVE to have that opportunity offered to me by my parents lol.

hehe u gonna invite us all over for a party ^^
-
Mhm yeah I'll invite you all :P
Thanks for the advice everyone... I'll just need to talk to my parents about it ^_^
-
Wow I definitely would, why don't you move closer to university, ie Monash or something, and if you're scared you'd get bored, you could move into a Uni Residence or something, because there you'd be surrounded by lots of other people.
I'm jealous, I'd absolutely love to move out, but I can't afford it!
-
Wow this is still going, what do you think you want to do at this stage Odette?
-
Well I think I might take the offer :) Try it out for about a month and see how it goes :)
-
Lucky you!! I'm so jealous!!
Good luck :)
-
Haha yeah this kinda offer don't come that often, especially with Asian-mentality parents >.< All the best! XD
-
Haha thanks :) I'm surprised they offered me that though, they're so clingy lol and not to mention protective :) hmm i wonder if they're upto something trying to prove a point of some sort lol ...
-
I say wait till you are older, and save the money that would go towards rent for something you might need, like a car? You can remain independent whilst living at home, i'm sure.

and i ought to stop battling the necromancers... :P... one day

It's not THAT old lol.
=P
Odette: have you looked at on-campus accomodation when you get to Uni? It's pretty fun, I'm told. You're never alone basically ;). I'll hold you to that invite offer though!

i'd say yes to the moving out
you seem independent and you say you would like to - it would give you a bit of a break from your family and allow you to become a more independent individual.
Uni campuses (on campus accommodation) can be a great way to meet people, make new friends and enjoy the uni lifestyle so you might like to look into them. You could even try on campus accommodation for a while and then move out into a unit/flat with friends after that!
Or another option if you are looking for company is a share house - there are some about where you rent with other uni students which could be good to meet people and provide you with some company.
Anyways just do what you think is right.
