Omg.. we had 144 students do units 3&4. Stupid school letting in year 11s do year 12 subjects. Even though we had seven times the amount of people get 40 or above this year, overall, we did worse than last year's group. ;_;
-
Lol, we did better. XD... So happy now. :D
-
OMG OUR SCHOOL SUCKED THIS YEAR!!!
Our median SS dropped from 31 to 29!!!
We had too many shit people in our year level this year!!! However we had heaps more people who got 95 or above this year :)
-
WOW! 45 students completing year 12 subjects!
Most of which were year 12 students, meaning our school is growing ;D
-
Our median rose from 22 to 26... Hey, what can I say, we performed better this year. XD
-
Wow, median of 35 for my school, what a smart bunch of kids this year :P
-
Median study score of 26.... >_> I don't remember what last year's was but oh well
However we did get higher ENTERs this year than last year... but it was a larger cohort >_>
Edit: Riad I heard someone got 98 at the school, is that true? or were you Dux?

Woah.. that's pretty amazing, but it still makes my school (and its academic achievement awards) a farce. I was so proud of them yesterday, too. I just forgot about sixty students. xD
-
wow good on you man!
yeh i heard about that. hopefully the schools pick up a bit!
what was the dux's enter? over 88 (2007 dux) i hope lol
-
No one at my school got a 40 in English. It was a bit of a surprise considering some of our english students are freaks. I suspect an enquiry at our school into the study of the subject lol!
-
Lolz, there was 1 4X in English and 1 4X in Turkish at our school... Pretty sure that was it! XD
EDIT: We are really a school who always do well in Turkish; hehe, I've even learned a bit of Turkish from Roxy. :) (For some reason, this guy who was acing it (100% in SACs) got a 39 in it. :S)

wow good on you man!
yeh i heard about that. hopefully the schools pick up a bit!
what was the dux's enter? over 88 (2007 dux) i hope lol
97.75 was the top ENTER, there was another in the 93-4 region and one of my friends got 91.80 (He's in BCom at UoM cause he got KLD scholarship) and another close friend got 88.35, so all in all pretty good year, but yeah I was probably the major let down according to most people (around 10 lower than what most teachers thought I was going to get) :(
33 in English just ruined me! :'(
Nawww... Here, here. I'm sure no matter what happens, you will still do what you want to do in the end... Transfer, TAFE, whatever; a damn ENTER score does not define your intelligence (or what you're going to do in the future for that matter)!!!
-
My mate scored 4.8 as his enter score :)
I'll try get a copy of the letter/screen shot of the results page for you all, its pretty funny.
He did nothing all year, and in his exams he just drew dicks all over the paper :)

lol, i didn't even know that was possible
-
How do you get a 4.8 ENTER for that?
-
What do you mean, how did he get it?
He may have answered one, maybe two questions all year? LOL
He only went to school to get his year 12 pass so he could do some other course to do with his particular area of employment.
He worked pretty much part-time/full-time throughout year 12.
Funniest kid you will ever meet though.
Edit: Trust me, I didn't think it was possible either!
-
thats impressive
edit: wait, did the 4.8% of people below him draw less penises then him or something!?
-
The lowest reported ENTER I've fathomed was a 15 from a good friend last year... Believe it or not, he got a study score of 4 with the grades E, UG, UG... Apparently, he didn't even touch the exam (it was English btw). He never ordered a statement of marks, so I wouldn't know how high or low they were? :S, But he wanted his SS so he can go figure? :P
-
thats impressive
edit: wait, did the 4.8% of people below him draw less penises then him or something!?
Not sure, have to ask more of my 'mates' to see what they got.
Was pretty funny when I told a chick at my work, her response: 'OMG thats awesome, I wanna meet this kid, he sounds so cool, the lowest I've seen so far is 14.5, and she was an emotional train wreck!'
hmm, actually thats not that funny...you had to be there!
-
nah my mate got 3.6. he was basically there to shut centrelink up.

But the student in question goes to a err.. lower performing school...i'll check their stats from this year...
Median study score: 25
1% of study scores above 40.
18% Failed VCE.
Less than half applied for a tertiary place.
You get the story :)
Edit: And oh, I had the pleasure of going there for two years :)

Is your school's median more important than the benefits yr 11's experience doing yr 12 subjects?

If I didn't do Psychology in year 11, I wouldn't have had any experience for year 12, nor the skills necessary to study or the amount of effort that is required. I believe it is almost paramount to allow year 11's to do year 12 subjects. It can only benefit them, so why degrade their efforts by saying 'Stupid school letting in year 11s do year 12 subjects'? It is very good preparation for year 12, so you may want to reconsider what you have just written, champorado. :)

majority of our 4% over 40 came from year 11's so fuck year 12's (for now lasting approximately 11 days to which this will be changed.)

Think Champ is a bit angry, and probably didn't think about what he was saying and obviously took a very close minded view on the topic... 'OMG more dumb ass year 11's means lower study scores zomggggg'
Year 12 subjects in year 11 are great on so many levels.
-

yeh agreed, and in my experiences they probs end up outperforming the yr 12s.
-
This year's yr 12 just beat last year's yr12 by .5. :D
And our English Head told us this year we were the worst english classes she has ever seen in 10 years. Hah. We sure showed her.
My school got an average ENTER of 89.5, with the dux getting 99.7.
We had a median SS of 36, with 25% getting SS's of over 40.
Pretty good year I have to say. :)
-
Lol... poor Alana... well where I live there are like 8 or so leb houses [that I know of] Lol.

Wow. Thats funny...4.8...
Anyways, I bought the newspaper yesterday and had a look at my school's statistics...
Average SS = 28 (Stable from last year)
Study scores above 40 = 1% (dropped from 4% last year)

BENDIGO SENIOR SECONDARY COLLEGE BENDIGO
Number of students enrolled in at least one VCE unit at level 3-4 in 2008 - 1129

Is your school's median more important than the benefits yr 11's experience doing yr 12 subjects?
Of course not (I thought with the internet slang, emoticons, etc that my post would be construed as hyperbolic, but I guess not). I did methods in year 11 and it was a great experience. I didn't get a very good mark, but it taught me that I'd have to work a lot harder if I wanted to get a good score. I'm sure the year 11s at my school learnt a lot from doing a year 12 subject, and they were probably more motivated (considering they didn't have to pick up a year 12 subject) than the majority of my year level as well.
The only thing that I wanted to say is that I was disappointed that the achievements of several of my peers (the girl who's supported me all year got a 41 in VCD. So proud!) weren't reflected in a particular statistic. It was a post made in haste, and to blame it on my school's recent policy change (extending the choice of 3/4 subjects available to year 11s) was a poor choice on my part.
Also, I'm still winning this 'worst school' thing. 24 and 1. I'm not gonna apologise for that. My school's textbook and teacher choices are pretty bad.
-
jsimmo: yeah, Bendigo has a pop of 80-100 thousand [depending on how you measure it] and BSSC is the only state school catering to yr 11 and 12's, [there being 2 private schools]
champorando: it was really a rhetorical question. As Brendan often says, schools exist to benefit students, not the other way round
[sorry, I can't quote atm.]

My response was really for those who were following your lead, but yeah, I agree. I was really only thinking about my classmates, and not my school when I wrote that.

Many people tend to exaggerate their scores... At my school last year, the dux got 87, but he ran around making us assume he got 91! Quite a big exaggeration. :(
-
our school never does that.
its always pertty straight foward.
our school only had 4% that has ss over 40 this year... wow....
but out dux this year got 97.85...
OMG ENTERS at my school for various people was a shock!

Nah don't feel guilty, it's your future, you want to be somewhere you know you have a better chance of doing well in.
The way I see it is that it's better than you feeling guilty later on when you don't switch schools.

My old school, Emmanuel College (formerly St Paul's College) got a median of 29 and 6% over 40, which is a bit higher than usual. The dux of our school apparently got 99.90 this year as well, which I reckon would be a new record for our school.
