Omg.. we had 144 students do units 3&4. Stupid school letting in year 11s do year 12 subjects. Even though we had seven times the amount of people get 40 or above this year, overall, we did worse than last year's group. ;_;

wow good on you man!

yeh i heard about that. hopefully the schools pick up a bit!

what was the dux's enter? over 88 (2007 dux) i hope lol
97.75 was the top ENTER, there was another in the 93-4 region and  one of my friends got 91.80 (He's in BCom at UoM cause he got KLD scholarship) and another close friend got 88.35, so all in all pretty good year, but yeah I was probably the major let down according to most people (around 10 lower than what most teachers thought I was going to get) :(

33 in English just ruined me!  :'(

Nawww... Here, here. I'm sure no matter what happens, you will still do what you want to do in the end... Transfer, TAFE, whatever; a damn ENTER score does not define your intelligence (or what you're going to do in the future for that matter)!!!

Post by: mtwtfss on December 18, 2008, 07:39:41 pm
What do you mean, how did he get it?

He may have answered one, maybe two questions all year? LOL

He only went to school to get his year 12 pass so he could do some other course to do with his particular area of employment.

He worked pretty much part-time/full-time throughout year 12.

Funniest kid you will ever meet though.

Edit: Trust me, I didn't think it was possible either!

The lowest reported ENTER I've fathomed was a 15 from a good friend last year... Believe it or not, he got a study score of 4 with the grades E, UG, UG... Apparently, he didn't even touch the exam (it was English btw). He never ordered a statement of marks, so I wouldn't know how high or low they were? :S, But he wanted his SS so he can go figure? :P

Was pretty funny when I told a chick at my work, her response: 'OMG thats awesome, I wanna meet this kid, he sounds so cool, the lowest I've seen so far is 14.5, and she was an emotional train wreck!'

But the student in question goes to a err.. lower performing school...i'll check their stats from this year...

1% of study scores above 40.

18% Failed VCE.

Less than half applied for a tertiary place.

If I didn't do Psychology in year 11, I wouldn't have had any experience for year 12, nor the skills necessary to study or the amount of effort that is required. I believe it is almost paramount to allow year 11's to do year 12 subjects. It can only benefit them, so why degrade their efforts by saying 'Stupid school letting in year 11s do year 12 subjects'? It is very good preparation for year 12, so you may want to reconsider what you have just written, champorado. :)

My mate scored 4.8 as his enter score :)

I'll try get a copy of the letter/screen shot of the results page for you all, its pretty funny.

He did nothing all year, and in his exams he just drew dicks all over the paper :)

Was he obsessed with dicks ? lol.
or worried about the size/performance of it. xD

Wow. Thats funny...4.8...

Anyways, I bought the newspaper yesterday and had a look at my school's statistics...
Average SS = 28 (Stable from last year)
Study scores above 40 = 1% (dropped from 4% last year)

Omg.. we had 144 students do units 3&4. Stupid school letting in year 11s do year 12 subjects. Even though we had seven times the amount of people get 40 or above this year, overall, we did worse than last year's group. ;_;
Is your school's median more important than the benefits yr 11's experience doing yr 12 subjects?
Of course not (I thought with the internet slang, emoticons, etc that my post would be construed as hyperbolic, but I guess not). I did methods in year 11 and it was a great experience. I didn't get a very good mark, but it taught me that I'd have to work a lot harder if I wanted to get a good score. I'm sure the year 11s at my school learnt a lot from doing a year 12 subject, and they were probably more motivated (considering they didn't have to pick up a year 12 subject) than the majority of my year level as well.

The only thing that I wanted to say is that I was disappointed that the achievements of several of my peers (the girl who's supported me all year got a 41 in VCD. So proud!) weren't reflected in a particular statistic. It was a post made in haste, and to blame it on my school's recent policy change (extending the choice of 3/4 subjects available to year 11s) was a poor choice on my part.

Also, I'm still winning this 'worst school' thing. 24 and 1. I'm not gonna apologise for that. My school's textbook and teacher choices are pretty bad.

jsimmo: yeah, Bendigo has a pop of 80-100 thousand [depending on how you measure it] and BSSC is the only state school catering to yr 11 and 12's, [there being 2 private schools]

champorando: it was really a rhetorical question. As Brendan often says, schools exist to benefit students, not the other way round

  [sorry, I can't quote atm.]

My response was really for those who were following your lead, but yeah, I agree. I was really only thinking about my classmates, and not my school when I wrote that.

Many people tend to exaggerate their scores... At my school last year, the dux got 87, but he ran around making us assume he got 91! Quite a big exaggeration. :(

Nah don't feel guilty, it's your future, you want to be somewhere you know you have a better chance of doing well in.
The way I see it is that it's better than you feeling guilty later on when you don't switch schools.

My old school, Emmanuel College (formerly St Paul's College) got a median of 29 and 6% over 40, which is a bit higher than usual. The dux of our school apparently got 99.90 this year as well, which I reckon would be a new record for our school.
