Title: Question on acceptance/rejection of scholarship
Post by: gta007 on December 20, 2008, 09:17:37 pm
Hi guys/gals,

I've been offered a scholarship at Monash Uni, and they haven given me until Fri Jan 9 to accept/reject the offer.

Currently, I have Melbourne University as my preference. As far as I know, the closing date for preferences is on the 22nd of this month.

So, the question is. If I leave Melbourne University as my first preference, but in the period between 22nd Dec and 9 Jan, I decide to accept the Monash scholarship. What will happen?

I'd take the money. $6000 is a huge scholarship!

my understanding is that you won't get the scholarship if you don't go to monash.
so even if you except the scholarship, they won't give it to you if you don't actually attend the uni.
so considering your enter, you should get into melb uni if you leave it as your 1st preference, therefore you won't get the monash scholarship.

is that right?

Make your mind up earlier. I know it's hard, but you need to decide on how much you want/need the cash, what your chances are of getting into either of the unis, and which uni you really want to go to. I must say thats a tough choice!
