**** ok heres my situation.
my highest pref, that realistically ill get into is sci at monash.
But i can get into b emergency health. Which i want to ... now.
But the thing is, its lower in my preference, but b emeregency health didnt have an enter stated.?
despite it lower on my list, and it being RC can i still get offered a place for it?
i already called up monash, and they said they wont be accepting irregular offers wdf? lol, and that i shuld just transfer after one year, but i dont like wasting time >: S.
-
wtf how can they not accept irregular offers
-
If Monash says it won't be accepting irregular offers, wouldn't you be better off putting the Bachelor of Emergency Health as first preference and the bachelor of Science as second preference? That is, if thats the course you really want to get into.
I think somewhere on the Monash website it said something about one of the entry requirements of this course is that it requires written statements about your knowledge of the course etc...(It says somewhere here: http://www.med.monash.edu.au/beh/entry.html )
And the other requirement is a score of at least 25 in English.
The selection committee will be doing their selection based on the score of >25 English thing plus the written statements (i.e. quality of those written statements).
Anyways, if you put emergency health as first pref and if you don't get into the emergency health course, then you would get into the science one (according to your post), or may possibly get into the health course through second or third round offers.

i think yesterday was the last day to change your prefs

Oh...I didn't know that. Opps :( I guess my post is useless then :(
-
yeah, i already did all the forms for everything, that written statement, its just lower in my preference dam it!! sucks, they were so cold when i called them both vtac and monash, they were like yelling at me lol.
-
I guess if it's something you really want to do, transferring after one year seems like the only option. I never knew VTAC and Monash could be so harsh. :S

Wait...onlyfknhuman,
You said you called Monash. Did you call the admissions office or the faculty itself??
-
wtf how can they not accept irregular offers
they said they have too many people..

I searched through the Monash website and found this in their FAQs.
The link is https://monash-ext.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/monash_ext.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_sid=5XlKX1mj&p_accessibility=0&p_redirect=&p_tbl=9&p_id=1804&p_created=&p_olh=0&p_faqid=1804
But this is what it says:
Question
What is an irregular offer?
Answer
Irregular offers apply only to applicants who have submitted an application through the Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTAC). Irregular Offers are designed to give applicants a last chance to reconsider their course preferences. The Application for Irregular Offer form is available from VTAC.
Contact the Faculty for your chosen course at Monash University Australian campuses to discuss the likelihood of receiving an Irregular Offer. To be eligible you must meet the course prerequisites as stated in the VTAC guide.
You can apply for an Irregular Offer if you have:
received an offer but want to be considered for a course listed lower on your preferences;
received an offer but want to apply for a course not listed on your preferences;
not received an offer and want to apply for a course not listed on your preferences.
Based on this informationa and the fact that many people have applied for this course, Im really sorry to say this, but the likelihood of you getting into the Bachelor of Emergency Health is very unlikely :'( :'( :'( :'(
But I still reckon a Science degree from Monash is still awesome :)

yeah me too, just that i wanted to do biomed, cause i perhaps thats what my dad would've hope ive done. But we had a chat over dinner for the 1st time lol about my future intentions, and he told me to do whatever i wanted to do. and that it was okay. [ couldnt believe that ] I guess my parents are gettting out of that asian perspective. Which was basically yesterday :{. I really didnt care about what i liked. at the time.

That's the best advice you could get. There's nothing better than doing what you want to do, rather than having your parents decide your future ambitions.

maybe since it is RC there is more to it than just choosing a different course on your preferences
What you mean lol.
And i got an email from vtac, saying that i should apply for an irregular offer >: { not that it helps

The RC for Emergency Health was to fill in an extra form as to past experience/reasons why you wanted to do paramedic at Monash. Form was found at their website.
But back on topic; unlikely you will get in but still worth a try :(

yeah thankyou everyone much appreciated.
