Hi all.
I'm just wondering why VCAA has decided to shift exams to a later date this year as compared to 2006? This particularly affects those doing the sciences (such as Physics/Chemistry). Last year these people finished their exams on the 9th November. This year I will be finishing on the 15th November, a considerable time later.
I understand some people here may like this extra time, but I believe the less time you have the more you focus on studying. I have a whole week between the English and Methods exam, which I'm sure I will find it difficult to study.
Any reasons why they shifted the exams back? Or feel free to add your own opinions on the matter.

I don't know why the vcaa scheduled the exams at this time, but anyways thanks to them pushing the exams back, my last exam is on the 20th of november... ahh i cant study for that long

Some years they just decide to do everything late. We don't get our results until the 17th of December, and change of preferences are open from then until Christmas Eve.
Not too sure as to the reasoning behind it though.

Next years are similar - November Written Examinations take place from Friday 31 October to Friday 21 November.

I think last year was earlier than normal, not the other way around. I remember my IS teacher telling us we were lucky that our exam wasn't in the middle of the 1/2 exams at my school, because usually it was.
And my last exam is on the last session of the last day of the whole thing :D

For monash the pre-reqs are english and chem.
Generally those going for med do english, chem, bio, spesh, methods +something else (methods and spesh for the scaling I guess).
edit: why are people so rude about people bumping old threads. yeh people sometimes google and come to old threads and post in them. mods can just move the posts in the odd occasion they post in old threads.

What is spesh?

What is spesh?
Specialist Mathematics. Hardest VCE level maths subject.

If I take bio, chem,English, math methods ...so will it be good or not Chasej?

Ultimately it's up to you. But yes, those subjects will be able to fulfil the prerequisites for most undergrad med courses in Australia, provided you get the required scores.
Subjects to take outside prereqs are really your choice.

Thanks aloooot Chasej for such an brotherly advices

Chasej I've one question more....do I need advance maths too with math methods for medical side?

English and Chemistry are needed as prerequisites for Medicine pretty much close to everywhere. Biology will be helpful, especially because that's what Medicine is based on. A recommended Math subject would be Methods. Then choose two more that you feel you would enjoy. :)
Good luck!

Thank you yacoubb

You don't really need specialist maths (unless you want to do engineering, generally), it's only maths methods and usually chemistry that are prerequisites to get into the main medicine/biomedicine and science courses.
