Being an aspiring journalist and needing to build my folio , I'm considering writing a piece on VCE Notes. But what to write on and whether to write a piece is the question.
Im considering sending my work to the local Leader newspapers, and possibly some of the larger newspapers, yet im not too sure what to write it on.
I'm think it would be wise to include the success rate of students on the forum, the different types of boards available, the actual website featuring free A+ standard notes, that the notes are pretty much free of charge and the tutoring services available.
What does everyone else think?
Oh and if it goes ahead, i will most likely need quotes from willing 'forumers' :D who basically want to talk up the site and how it has changed their VCE life :P
as well as our success rate and average ENTER/ss.
:):):)

I reckon this would be awesome thing to do.
The article could feature in the "Education" section that appears in the Age newspaper every Monday.!!!!
-
or the education section that features in the Herald Sun on Tuesday.

Here's my quote
"Before I started using VCE Notes, I was a A+ student. Now my grades are a steady UG and I am confident with my failing ability! Now I know how to study effectively with the well-renowned 'Procrastinate' method. Thank you VCE notes!"

^lol.
I think it's a good idea, and it's a good way for you to build up your portfolio too. Also, I can be available for comment once you want to start writing it up, if you want. It might also be a good idea to trawl through old posts and if you find a good quote, ask the permission of the poster to write it up. It's more genuine that way, I think.

I think thats an excellent idea (for your own personal gain and for VN's benefit).
However, I think you'd have to make sure that you didn't write your article making it sound like a big advertising free-be. Otherwise they will be like PFFT whatever. Maybe saying how many members got over 95 or something and othetr interesting facts. Little personal stories from members etc.
Also maybe youd want to call up the respective newspapers you wish to send this article to because with limited publishing space they may only want a smaller article than you may anticipate writing. Good idea thou!

You could talk about the nature of forum interaction, advantages and disadvantages -how it has changed you or your outlook or someone else's, tales of events in "lulzy" threads such as this one http://vcenotes.com/forum/index.php/topic,1944.0.html or power-hungry admins -anything played out on the forum which resembles, in some way, real-life events. Also, what it was like meeting members in RL [if you've had that experience], the extent to which you might have seen them differently had you met them without knowing their forum persona.

I just had an idea. Technology!!!
I've seen a few articles in like The Age Education talking about technology and its role in education. Like Rudd trying to give every kid access to a computer at school. Well this site is part of the education revolution in a sense. I'm sure the editors would like that sorta spin on Vn rather than a focus on advertising it. :)
-
yeah good idea, By writing the article you could also attract new students to join the forum, in which they will receive the full benefits of VCEnotes!. At my school not many people know about this forum, VCEnotes in the newspaper will definitely be fantastic!

Thats a really great spin. I never looked at it that way! And the quotes from people, as well as bubble sunglasses idea on cyberspace to real life interaction with members ,also sounds promising.

Goodluck with it. Make sure to keep us posted on the progress :)
