I suggest that when a post is deleted it ought to look something like what happens on WP:
http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=1055342
Since on VN we have avatars, and sigs and what not. I suggest that when a post is deleted, the thread should only show the person's username, and the reason for deletion, date and time just like on WP

That's a really good idea.
-
Yeh 100% agree. Can it be done on our boards though?
-
Pffft waste of time.
Part of the reason why it is deleted is because no one should see it, as it serves no benefit to the forum community. People are just gonna waste their time if they go over such deleted crap.
I say good-riddance.

It shouldn't be too hard.

Yeah but the actual content is deleted on WP.

I believe the content is hidden, not deleted. This adds meaning and value to the audit trail created by this modification (in that the (logically) deleted post is invisible to users, it remains visible to the moderators).
I'm all for this idea. I'm not sure if there's an implementation of this for SMF though - Whirlpool is custom-written by the owner (Simon Wright) in ColdFusion.

That sounds about right.
-
The posts aren't deleted completely, they are merely sent to the Recycle Bin.
Can you please clarify what you mean by this suggestion? I am unclear as to what it is you are actually requesting.
-
a log of posts that were deleted that includes the OP, the thread, the time, etc.
