+1
If you like good picture quality and are willing to build a power plant to run it, Plasmas are a good pick. Just make sure you don't leave it on the same image for a long time (they suffer from burn-in effects)
If you're willing to sacrifice picture quality to save the earth, LCDs are good picks. They do not suffer from burn-in.

I prefer LCD.

mmm.. tasty.
I think it goes, movie watching: plasma, games playing: lcd. And also <41": lcd, >41": plasma. I still play games on my pana, though. Most of the hud elements fade off screen after a bit, anyway.
To save space in my room, I was planning on getting an lcd tv to replace my old crt tv and monitor. How do lcd tv's fare as computer monitors, though?

I have a 48" (?) LCD, and I find it to be fine.
It's a bit odd going from a 24" 1920x1200 computer LCD screen to a 48" 1080p (1920x1080) TV LCD, though. The aspect ratio just feels, well, weird.

52, 46, 40, 37, 32 are the common lcd screen sizes, iirc.
I'm using a 16:9 monitor right now, so the wideness/lack of height is something I'm getting accustomed to. It's really tiny, though, so I can't really watch anything while lying down in bed. The only thing I've really noticed since the shift from 16:10 to 16:9 is that TF2 doesn't display properly (have to aim a couple of centimetres down to select what I want).

plasmas ftw

i have an LCD :)
never used a plasma though

From shopping around for my TV I generall found that ~>40" is usually Plasma territory and less than is LCD.
