Hey there,
What's your isp?, Mines bigpond telstra, and its so crap. i want to change to TPG, which is cheap and fast!, is there any other ISP's out there that are cheap and fast ?
-hielly
-
I have Bigpond, and I find it alright. hmmm, what about iprimus, optus, aapt etc
-
hrm bigpond is not worth your money.
i have unlimited, pay 60 a month and when it reaches 12gb it gets capped,
whilst TPG (ADSL) you pay 60 and when it reacher 50GB then it gets capped !
I should change to TPG,... hrmm, but still checking iprimius and aapt
-
i used to have bigpond then i switched because optus offered more downloads. now optus is really shit(slow speeds). i was going to switch to TPG as well but i heard you always disconnect with TPG.

TPG has crap speeds/quality from what i hear lol.
-
im thinking of getting Internode or iiNet

Their speeds and downloads are impressive. However quality can be an issue depending on where you leave, on my exchange it was fine, on my friends it wasn't.
I now have optus however, due to dad wanting the phone bundle, which is mad because I'm a phone junkie as well. =]

INTERNODE FTWWWWW :D
-
mine is exetel
-
Hrmm.. its a toss up between internode,TPG, and iprimmus. any suggestions?
-
internode its rated #1 on whirlpool
-
imo TPG is really good value. but in some areas you can d/c a fair bit. But if your willing to deal with that should it happen, TPG is by far the winner.
-
iPrimus used to be good value for me, because they forgot to divide data into on/off peak. After they remembered (Like, a year later) it seems pretty crap value. It's pretty slow for me, because the exchange is ages away
Some larger companies provide free mirrors for downloads that don't count towards your monthly quota, or extras such as IPTV (TPG I think) and game servers that once again don't count towards monthly quota. If you use those things you can probably take it into consideration as well. If you use torrents you have to take into account the fact some companies count uploads towards your monthly quota
-
hrm, for me. I need it to be fast; so i can research for schoolwork, download quite a bit due to other family members. so i need one that is fast and gives you alot of GB.
-
Id be goign TPG Then If you live close to the exchange.
-
I'm on the iiNet Naked Home 4 (30GB + 30GB) ADSL2+ Plan for $79.95.
- No need for line rental! Bye Bye Telstra! Save you $25 bucks already.
- Free VOIP calls Australia wide! Unlimited calls! No phone bills!
- Freezone - Premier League FTW!
I'm considering upgrading to the Naked Home 5 Plan for $10 more for 40GB + 60GB.
-
mine is exetel
Good value for money that company...they and one of the ISPs I use, aaNet, were the firsts in the Australian broadband market with a no frills service with decent service levels. I'm also with Optus at my current residency on a business plan.
-
Im using internode :) INTERNODE FTW WE RULE :P
Sorry for the caps lol.
-
If you're sorry, why'd you use it in the same post lol? lol
Internode is a good choice, but they have become quite pricey over the years...
-
Whats the cheapest internet out there?
-
Broadband Choice - http://bc.whirlpool.net.au
Highly recommended by me.
-

Optus has some really good business deals. A friend of mine is quite keen on their bundled deals but have had no such luck.

NO
DO NOT GO ON TPG. Go check out their forums. There are endless pages of complaints about their speed and connection problems. They are an absolutely USELESS internet company. Avoid them like the plague.

Wait!
I am a TPG user as well and it's the best.
7 months in and only 1 downtime of about 30min!
It's really good, constant speed of 4Mbit/s which is about right for my line distance of 4km.
-
INTERNODE! DO IT!
-
Telstra is full of dogshit. Avoid them like the plague. Fags
-
WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO IM WITH THE NODE BITCHEZZZ
I <<<<3333 THEM :D :D. Fucking hell, usenet bloody rocks!!!! :D :D
Go INTERNODE WITH THEIR 40GB GOODNESS :D
-
Netspace are very good!
only concern is their new 55gb(25/30) plan where off-peak is 5am-midday! ridiculous times IMHO.
And their tv ad does not do them any justice either, such a shifty looking ad.

TPG is the best 200GB for what $70 or $80

200GB includes uploads.

Ummm. No, I don't think so.
-

i get about 14mbits-20mbits depends on the day..
average i get is 1.4MB/s
TPG is the best 200GB for what $70 or $80

TPG does not include uploads. iPrimus is the isp which includeds uploads in their 200gb plan
-
Pfft you think I'm lying? How much do you wanna bet? ;)
http://www.internode.on.net/business/internet/business_adsl/standard/pricing/
"Business-1500-Unlimited
$299
1500/256 kbps
Unlimited
$299"
I never said it was gonna cheap though ;) :P
-
i dont get it
Business-1500-Power100
1500/256 kbps
100 Gbytes
$499
Business-1500-Unlimited
1500/256 kbps
Unlimited

why is 100gb more expensive than unlimited?
-
u got the price from "Price Cap (Max Monthly Charge)"

-

oh fail
-
hmm TPG is cheap, heaps of usage.
Only downside I've found is for gaming. It's really bad at night time ( around 8-9pm onwards) for hosting/etc. Pings are really high.
-
LOL...
this is such my category............................
Number 1 : You get what you pay for...
i spent good 2 weeks looking for the best one within my price range, although if you want speed, Telstra is the way to go, but you have to fork out shit loads of money
If you want Usage: Exetel, Aapt, iiNet, TPG ...
If you want reasonable usage but great speed " Internode "
Internet is very important for me....
Speed is also, i chose the best deal for my speed category.
Even though i live in a metro city and dont have ADSL2 in my exchange beside Telstrra (2expensivee)
TPG IS SHIT DURING 9PM >
SPEEDS ARE REALLY LOW AND BAD BAD PING...
GOES WITH EVERY COMPANTY THAT OFFERS YOU GREAT USAGE WITH SUCH LOW PRICES.
Keep in mind ;
''You get what you pay for ''
-
uhh. iiNet is not great for usage.
'Node offers far more value for money than iiNet. (you don't need to sign up to their phone services :D )
Lets compare the $59 plan (without Phone1 to make it fair)
iiNet
home 4 - $59.95 ADSL2+ speeds 7GB + 14GB $59.95
Internode
Home-Extreme-Value
$59.95 Extreme ADSL2+ Speeds 25 Gbyte
So iiNet offers 21GB for $60 and 'Node 25GB for $60. And really, you can only use 7GB of true usage, unless you're US Session trader (lol) or an insomniac, to access the 14GB "offpeak" usage.
And compare iiNet to other ISPs like TPG, it's not really a "big usage" company. Rather, they also concern on bringing a stable and quality connection to the customer unlike tpg lol

LIKE I SAID, YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR
To tell the truth, there about the same... who cares about offpeak or not...
My torrent is running 24/7
im a seeder and leecher....
im on a 72gb deal.... 50 buks. beat that!

Have you guys considered aaNet or eXeTeL (no frills ISPs)

Have you guys considered aaNet or eXeTeL (no frills ISPs)
are they reliable/(have good speeds?)
-

Yes. But obviously you get what you pay for. Speeds tend to be low at off-peak for exetel.
-

I find aaNet quite reliable (and eXeTeL has the same kind of business model). Basically, they don't give you value-add services like filtering or free peering (PIPE/WAIX/VAIX et al). Just a connection to the internet, some webhosting and some (occasionally unreliable) email. They also lack quite a bit in the support department (they have community-based help forums to do this). That's where the costs are trimmed.
So I'd recommend them if you're not the type to call support the moment something breaks (they only work business hours IIRC) and don't need those services offered by other companies.

Well i have exetel and my speeds are perfectly fine on and off peak. There exactly the same... no speed difference..
Yes their reliable, although don't expect great customer service as they are new and still growing

Is there anyone who is with iinet and plays games?
Just wondering how the pings are at night time? ( specifically: bored aussies)
I'm with TPG atm and it's ridiculously slow on BA after 6pm ( can't host, spikes non stop) so just wanted to check what other companies have decent deals but have a good net at night.
-
TPG are very well known for their latency issues with games...
-
If you want to play games check out internode. They have un-metered steam downloads and host a lot of things on their own mirrors. I'm with iPrimus at the moment but I'm waiting for internode to have the plan I want available in my area.
-
For internode, do you have to pay via credit card monthly? is there any other option of payments?
-
GUYS TRY SPIN INTERNET!! lol its good but um i dont have it, i just sell it as a telemarketer :P
