When did you get your L's?
and
How many hours of driving have you done?
-
lol I've done prolly 60hrs of driving and I got my Ls in like Apr 2007.
-
not early enough and not enough
-
The beginning of last years Summer holidays.
Total time driven: 10 minutes
-
Nov 15, 2007. About 13hours... No way I'm getting my P's this year. :(
-
This January, and 0. :)
-
Haha, I'm leading currently :D :coolsmiley:
-
Got L's in November 2006.
Heaps, but not sure of the exact hours since I don't have to do that log book thing.
Going for P's very, very soon.
-
Haha, I'm leading currently :D :coolsmiley:
What's the criteria for "leading"? lol
-
stuff you toothpick :( I WAS LEADING FOR ONCE and you came and ruined it :(
[the amount of hrs lol]
-
done 48hrs 1min.
got my L's in Oct 2007. Shocking...!
-
Got close to 80 hrs done, eligible to go for P's in late June
-
7 days after the stupid 120 hour thing set in...
30 hours
and it's taking me a damn long time to get to that
-
December 19th 2007, So far done 14 hours.
-
July 07...lost the log book lulz
-
Ive had it since September 07 and have only logged 6 hours lol
-
About 1.5 years, and 120+ hours.
-
17 1 month and 16 days - haven't bothered to get my L's yet lol.
Gonna get it within the next 10 days - gonna drive for 1 hour everyday until next year (1 year to get my P's) and then I can drive to uni :)
-
About 1.5 years, and 120+ hours.
are you apart of the compulsary logging for 120 hrs?
have u got P's yet?
-
Ive done like half an hour? had my Ls since june last year
but I have a double driving lesson soon
YAY!
-
Bleh only done like 10 hours...it is hard when your only automatic car is never available and the manual isn't insured yet lol...Still if I was doing an hour a week I am...really really behind. Hate this system, I don't think I will be getting my license until I am 27 at this rate...grrrrrr
-
17. Done 32hrs & 55min as at 21/02/09
-

1. Yes
2. No, but I'm booked for a test and have passed the hazard perception test
-
Bleh the whole 120 hours seems a bit much...considering my school already wants me to spend 4 hours of homework each night...
-

Yeah, I barely did any driving during the term (though this was partly due to my dad's schedule and my schedule not matching up). During holidays at the start and end of 2008 I got many hours.
it's also not that hard to slightly exaggerate your hours in your logbook.
-

4hrs? thats a bit of a high expectation lol

Well...that sub school principal ain't exactly the most popular person in school lol, wasn't a shock when he said it. Too bad last week (well technically this week) with like 4 SACS homework and studying time did equate to around 4 hours of homework a day...
Still with the 120 hours I find it also inconsiderate considering parents and students hectic timetables, cost of driving instructor if you don't have a car etc etc...So what I will be 20 when I get off my L's or something...great...

Yeah, I'm looking at getting my P's when I'm 19-20 at this rate. I got my L's last November and to date, I've only done 15 hours. :(
I need to start driving to school more often. Apparently it is a good way to kill some hours.
-
January 2007.
Hours of driving experience: 0
:( :( :( :(
-
November 2007.
Hours: 28 hours 10 minutes.
Pretty. Fucking. Pathetic.

For me driving too and from school was the ONLY way to get time :p Now that my mother uses the auto for work at those times, I've either got too learn to drive manual (in an uninsured car...great), wait for the manual to get insured (at this rate is ain't happening) or pay for lessons on weekends (auto car usually used on weekends too though so...)...
-
I got my Ls in October 2005 and got my Ps in February 2008. In that time I racked up 122 hours (this was before you had to keep a log book). My sister is on her Ls now and she's well on track for 120 by the time she's 18.
-
February 22 2009: No Ls yet.

I heard that's the strategy for many Learners who need to clock 120 hours. So far, I've heard it's a great strategy, especially if you're caught in peak hour traffic.
-
Can't you just make stuff up if you're struggling to get the hours?
-
Can't you just make stuff up if you're struggling to get the hours?
Parents have got to sign it.
And of course mine won't untruthfully... :(
-
Got my P's 2 months ago and clocked up 167 hours. 3 trips to NSW (20 hours round trip) and driving to school everyday (15 minutes) did it for me pretty easily
-
aiming to drive a little everyday
-
It's taken me soo long to get to 30 hours. And my mum is the worst supervising driver, she starts screaming at me all the time. She gets really stressed out lol.
-
^ haha, my mum was the same. And when I drove my Dad up to Canberra he couldn't stop instructing me, it seems compulsive.
-
My dad is also the same, haha.
-
Well... my Mum was really bad.
Early on in my driving, she kept making me nearly crash.
She would jst start yelling and panicking, and until I was used 2 her erratic-ness, it made me panic as well.
Her: "RIGHT! RIGHT! RIGHT!!!!"
Me: "I'm fuckin' turning right!"
Note my crude picture: There were 2 rights. I was going the right right, she thought I was going the wrong right.
She was being oh-so-very articulate about it and I nearly side-swiped another car.
My Dad... slept.
Half the time he would put his sunglasses on, tilt the chair bak a little, then sleep.
He was a good instructor when he was awake tho.
Sidenote: Yay 4 Paint!! ^_^ XD XD
-
ive only driven 3 times(3 hours in total) i think im naturally good, especially since there not strict on the legal age in lebanon
-
I'm just about to move on from my Ps to my full licence, and I still get lectured on driving (by the mother).
-
my mum is like DO YOU SEE THAT RED TRAFFIC LIGHT UP AHEAD or something equally obvious
and im thinking... if i can't notice a traffic light i dont think i should be driving at all.
-
7 hours 35 Mins :) only started recording three weeks ago. Got my L's mid last year.
and yeh parents are annoying, when the car infront slows down, Dads says to brake, and as we get closer to the car he says break even louder, until the point where hes almost yelling....
one day i just want to accelerate for fun, just to see what he does :)
Edit: Good way of cheating is just to write down every trip you have in the car, whether you drive or not. That is of course if your parent/s think the getting 120 hours is stupid like mine :D. Still annoying to driv with though =/
-
I hate driving. I have this overwhelming fear of crashing every time i get in the car.
(P.S does anyone have any tips on reverse parking?)

during reverse parking, left (normal) = right and right (normal) = left.
if that makes any sense....
-
I've clocked up 55-something hours...got my L's March last year.
Tips on reverse parking...Dad reckons that when you're reversing in, lock the wheel turning towards the curb and keep reversing until you can see the inner headlight of the other car in your right hand mirror...then correct as necessary...if that makes any sense; works for me XD
I think the 120 hour idea has the concept right...after all, experience is needed...but the logbook shouldn't be a compulsory thing. It should really be up to the learner to be responsible..that being said, I like your idea Kuya XD; my Dad (who works in the car industry and has plenty of clients on P's) says that if ANY entry in your logbook is suspicious, the VicRoads dude/dudette will cross it out...and re-total it. If it's under 120 hours, bang, no test, rebook it when 120 is completed to their satisfactory =/. So clock up extra...hopefully via the legit method.

i got my L's in June of last year, since then
my recorded driving time is 16 minutes

how do your reckon they'll identify suspicious log-ins?
-

This is actually kind of a good thing. Arrogant drivers are dangerous.
-

Haha mine are somewhat like this as well it's so annoying... Understandable I guess but then again I have eyes and I can see when a car is breaking without the person next to me having to yell at me.
-
how do your reckon they'll identify suspicious log-ins?
I think they do it by common sense...so anything unlikely to happen...like travelling 100km in 10 mins or the like will be crossed out...but who knows, it could be up to VicRoad's discretion...or the mood of the person checking your log book.

Yeah, I think they'll check the time with the odometer readings and if they seem out of whack, they will consider it as "suspicious".
But I'll try to clock more than 120 hours just in case if the above mentioned happens.
-
I wonder what happens up is you rock up with 119 hours 59 minutes and 59 seconds it would seem interesting to me :).
-
I'm just about to move on from my Ps to my full licence, and I still get lectured on driving (by the mother).
I know that feeling all too well haha. I often get told off by my mum to keep two hands on the wheel, and if I happen to take a corner slightly faster than normal, I get called reckless/dangerous. The only ever incident I have been involved in on my P's (which I've had for over a year) has been backing into a parked car near my driveway.
-
how do your reckon they'll identify suspicious log-ins?
It's up to the person testing you, my tester didn't even check my hours and just asked me what hours I got and just made sure everything was signed (country town, legend of a bloke). My instructor said they would just check odometer readings to make sure they are ascending and the hours are written in correctly etc.

-
so far i've done 95 hours of driving as an L-plater got it since dec 2007
does anyone know if it is harder to past with the new implementation?
i know its 45 mins instead of 15 mins now (the test), what are the differences?
-

I pretty sure they'll think, "Bloody smart a**". The thing is though, how can you land precisely on 59 seconds?
If they are tight, I think they'll refuse to let you do the test.
If they are lenient, I can only imagine the look on their faces...
-
someone should rock up to vic roads with a single entry of 120 hrs and see if they accept it
-

you'll get van'd for driving under influences :P 5 days straight!

Hahahaha

Don't worry, I'm sure someone will manage to do that. lol :P
-
i got my L's just a few days after my 16th bday, so in 2007 i got them. I drive all the time, just i never fill in the stupid fucking book.. So im fucked when i go for my P's in July.
A mate of mine, his mate completed the 120 hrs and when he handed it over to Vic Roads they noticed it was all out of wack, the kms driven, distance ect. They even have a program to put in the dates you mentioned and actually cheak if it was raining on that day, foggy, sunny ect.
They told him restart the whole 120 hrs again :|
FUCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCK

WTF? thats insane

What do you mean when you say kms driven were out of whack. Does that mean that you drove something like 100 kms in 10 minutes or was it that your odometer reading wasn't constant( like if I started a new trip each time I got behind the wheel)
-
What do u actually have to note down in these logs? Seems like theres a lot to record.
-
ummm,
date, time, how long you drove, odometer reading, amount of night time driving, total hours of driving, total hours of night time driving, conditions- weather, traffic, roads, number plate of car, signature of supervising driver...........
Its a bitch :(

Sorry champ, yeah, the odometer wasnt consistant with what he was saying.
-
fuck, because, i always start a new trip whenever I drive. would they tell me to restart it when they see my logbook?? :(

I don't think so. So long as you are truthful about your recordings, I'm sure they won't be suspicious.

you are supposed to take the odometer reading, not the trip distance :P

Had the same problem, went to VicRoads they told me to restart again or just deduct the kilometers driven from each trip from the odometer.

Such a program would not hard to write that at all, to be honest. However, keying in all your logbook entries would be a PITA for the front-end operator...
-
What do they really have a program like that?
I thought that they just saw that the kms were out of order and then just said that they had a program?
I must have misread, but can they really have a program like that? how would they know where you drove and if its raining'?
-
damn turbo laws ...

They just key in the date, and it'll load from a database what the weather conditions were like on that day. I would assume they would only do a sample, as it would be a royal pain in the butt to do them all.

Interesting
