i downloaded it ages ago, but alot of the drivers havent come out for windows 7 yet so wait a little

I was playing around the Beta - it's a solid OS. The only problem as FA mentioned is lack of driver support.
It's pretty much Vista, debugged. Which is a good thing.

This is RC though.
I think those driver problems have been fixed.

From personal experience, a lot faster than vista could possibly be even if it tried.
Just, overall, better.

Driver issues won't necessarily be fixed until the RTM release (release to manufacturer - pretty much the final build bar any serious issues). Of course, vendors are writing beta drivers to support their hardware based on the RC/Beta versions.

@ AppleXY, I've had fewer troubles with crashes/stability in windows 7 than vista. Though your hardware should be fairly good, otherwise finding drivers might become an issue.

You could enlist the use of certain software packages or, if that fails, a professional data recovery service. Beware, that'll cost you though.

I've already reformatted the HD, and reinstalled vista using the HP recovery disk. I also installed MSN and restored my back up :(
