Title: Uni extension/enhancement subj except maths
Post by: sheepz on December 13, 2007, 04:38:18 pm
Hey guys,

I was just wondering... did anyone here apply to do a University extension/enhancement subject next year apart from maths?

Eriny did UMEP Psychology or Literature, I think.

NEXT year. Pfffft.

I got confused with her tense confusion "did anyone do a UMEP subject next year?"

Yeah, sure, I did heaps of things tomorrow!

EDIT: Sorry, you're an ESL student (just read that in another thread). Did not mean to mock you, but here is a careful reminder to use the right tense (use "is" instead of "did" and replace "applied" with "going")

I did Uni Lit (as mentioned earlier :) ) alongside VCE Lit, and I found it useful. My VCE Lit teacher started giving me more difficult SACs than the rest of the class, which I know sounds really nerdy but I prefer to be challenged. Much of what I learned at Uni went into my SACs/exam. I also accessed lots of critical analyses of my texts through the library. Uni Lit has probably risen my Lit study score by a good 5 points or so (though we'll see).

I imagine Accounting would be similar? You'd probably get more practise in Accounting which is always helpful, IMO. And I find reading uni textbooks broadens your knowledge of a subject, and makes you see where things fit in a bit better. It's freeing to not be bogged down by the Study Design from an intellectual standpoint, especially if you have genuine interest in a subject.

Haha did your Lit teacher marked your SACs harsher?

Yeah, I do think that practice in Accounting will help me boost my score. I applied to do it at Monash University because its close to my house. Hmm... interesting point about using the uni textbook to broaden your knowledge! (haven't thought of that one before!) Thx lots!

lol, she didn't really seem to.

Anyway, good luck for Monday and in getting in to Monash, although I'm sure you won't need it :)
