Title: Help: English novel questions

hey,
I have english homework. Over the past week i have been avoiding it because i dont understand the questions asked :(. These questions are directing it to a novel, i dont get what they mean ?

what societies are depicted ? (As in describe the community?)

the nature of the families?( roles of each of the family member?)

ahh.. help please!! want to get this work done!

I'm thinking that it might be asking about the different social divisions. So basically as you said, describe the community but go into the details for the different social groups that exist within the community.

Probably not so much roles of each family member, but how the family as a whole behaves. Eg, a family in the book might be presented by the author as living in harmony (characters treating each other with compassion, mutual understanding, etc) while another lives in continual conflict (clashing personalities, lack of respect for one another).
