Ok.. so far there will be Methods, Spesh and Chem right?
How about humanities subjects? Do you plan on broadening the range of exams available?
I would gladly contribute to any creation of a Legal Studies exam however I would need some assistance or co-contributor as I feel it would give myself more confidence in knowing that someone else has contributed.
Anyway let me know. I have a person in mind who I'd ask to contribute or give ideas. You know who you are =P :smitten:
So yeh let me know. I personally think it is a great idea to have FSN prac exams, but only if they are of the highest quality and are not simply 5 minute rushed papers.
-
I was thinking of doing Psych and Eco ones too. If I get crappy study scores though, I probably won't want to.
-
NB: This is not for Next year's students, but maybe for 2009's students :)
I could make FSN Accounting and Economics papers, with ambigious questions which are pure VCAA style :)
lol.
-
I could do international studies :) (and german, but nobody does that subject lol)
EDIT: ok, nobody does international studies either, but oh well.
also, i could do biol too :)
-
I could do Bio 8)
-
Is anyone else for the idea of having more than one contributor for a certain exam. Ie. 2-3 people checking over the exams that they have all submitted to to ensure that it is the best that it can be?
-
Mmm I might help with the business management one if anyone else wants to contribute, it would help =)
Oh and possibly further maths

that would probably be best

I'll be happy to help for bus man Odette :)

Awesome =)
Hmm when do you think we can get it started? I'm not fussed really =)
-
ready when you are =]
I've forgotten a fair bit of the course so I'll have to go back and relearn it lol

I've forgotten a fair bit of the course so I'll have to go back and relearn it lol
Lol that's fine =)
I might start next week or something, just doing some research, case studies and what not =)
I'll keep you posted ^_^
-
So looks like everyone is behind the idea?
Just need to go ahead from the man himself =P
-
You can write as many exams as you want, but if you want the FSN tag on it, it has to pass by enwiabe.
Otherwise, it would just be Costa's Legal Studies Exam rather than Official FSN Legal Studies Exam.
-
Yeh but I'm saying it would be nice if a large proportion of subjects actually had FSN endorsed exams rather than Odette's Business Exam and Costargh's Legal Exam
-
Hey it's Nina and Odette's Business Mangement Exam =P lol
-
Im going to court (not in the traditional sense) my dream co-contributer :)
-
I'd be happy to contribute to producing History Revs and Psych exams. Pending my study scores of course. :)
-
So at the moment we have offers to do:
- Legal Studies- costargh + unmentioned
- Psychology- Nick + Eriny
- History Revs- Nick
- Business Management- Ninwa + Odette
- Economics- Eriny + Applexy
- Accounting- Applxy
- Biology- Ninwa + lids
- International Studies -Ninwa
- German- Ninwa
- Further Maths- Odette
- IT: Applications- Obsolete chaos
+ the already announced ones by enwiabe being Methods, Spesh and Chem
-
i'll give a crack at writing the IT:A one, waiting on SS, anyone want in?
-
Wow, guys, I don't know what to say. That'd be great! I'm not expecting anything, but if you actually get it done...
Also: We're not going to release any exam without worked solutions. So, yeah, even if they are essay-based, worked solutions are an imperative.
-
:D essay based IT exam:
technology is great, discuss.
-
So, yeah, even if they are essay-based, worked solutions are an imperative.
So you expect a sample essay then?
-
So you expect a sample essay then?
Yeah, I thought that was pretty obvious though, haha.
For something like an essay, it's probably good to include criteria on what makes a relevant long answer response and what other factors contribute to higher marks. Use VCAA examiner reports to find out what they want.
-
Answers to Legal Studies exams rarely have the entire answers written up.
Rather, a list of dot points will be included that are required to be addressed to ascertain a certain number or marks. Also, a sample extract of an answer is usually included for 6-10 mark questions where it is inconvenient to type up the entire answer.
For questions with lesser marks it is either in dot point format or just a short paragraph.
-
Okay, but don't confuse examiner reports as being actual solutions, because they aren't (science assessor's reports don't have all the solutions). Dot points sounds sufficient to me, but sample answers would be nicer.

We'll probably do the same with business management... a few dot points covering various answers and one sample answer =)
-
With the History Revs one:
Is it okay if I actually write out proper sample responses?
Dot points really don't cut it with history. Dot points will be useless for Revolutions.
Slash I have a personal hatred of dot points lol
-
Oh and for international studies - if FSN is going to produce IS practice exams, a new one will have to be written every year, because the area of study which is an essay changes every year x.x
-
Here is what I think the convention should be:
Short answer questions can be answered sufficiently with dot points, but alongside sample answers would be nicer.
Long answer questions will definitely require at least a sample extract, and an outline of the rest of the solution, but a full sample answer is desirable.
Long answer questions are roughly defined as questions worth more than 4 marks, but use your commonsense here: it depends on the subject.

Yeh I agree. I will not be typing up entire answers to my 10 mark question on Legal exam though lol. I will look at how other exam solutions have been done (about 10 of them I've got I think) and I'll find the best way.
-
So when do these exams need to be ready? Enwiabe?
I probably won't be able to start until mid January.
-
I think we should aim for 1st of Feb to be our deadline.
Coincides with full functionality of the website.
-
Yeah that's true. But people won't be needing prac exams until September. That's obviously not including Biol, Psych, Chem, Physics and Accounting which have mid years.
-
Maybe midyear exams should be done by then. For the other subjects, why so early? I won't be able to start until January, which means I have a month to work on / contribute to 4 different subject exams.
Also - do we all write one for each subject, or should we write several (if there's enough time; I don't see why there shouldn't be considering most of us are year 12s this year and uni doesn't start til March ...)
-
Mmm.. I guess so. It's up to you and the people who are also interested in making exams for your subject.
However I will encourage anyone interested in making a Legal Studies exam to PM me about it and the possibility of working together on it. Just the way I'd rather do the Legal exam.
-
Yea

Yeah I don't see why we couldn't get two done for each subject. Even more if possible.
-
I think though that the quality of exams would be better if say the first exam made for a subject had contributions from a variety of people (with each person editing and consulting with each other) and then after that if further exams were to be made they could be made in a similar way...
But whatever choice anyone makes will be up to them :)
-
lol this is a quite interesting idea that i would probably have never thought of doing. haha costargh, what do you mean by courting someone in the non-traditional way? i suppose i wouldn't mind doing a Legal Studies one with you... but since we're both in year 11 can we get it done by 1st Feb anyway? Don't think I want to use much time to work on it when I'm busy with the other subjects >.<
and for the answers, maybe i'll just cut and paste some answers I've written up to practice exam questions I have done in the past year if it's relevant. lol im so lazy!
-
i just realised no one has taken the dibs on physics exam...
i would but i cant as i'm doing it next year...
=S

Too many physics mistakes are possible. :) ;)

Probably everyone is too lazy to go learn the other 2 detailed studies :P
-
lol i'm not gonna do IT now.. *shames* 36... :p
-
lol if ure opting out because of a 36 i'll opt out of legal coz of my 37 >.<
-
=S i might do it, unless enwiabe has too much pride in his endorsements in staff and products alike, LOL!
-
Um.... I'm not sure if I'll be writing the exam up anymore :( don't think anyone wants an exam written by someone who got 40... but yeah if anyone wants me to contribute or look at it i'll be happy to do so :)
-
I can aid with legal and accounting, if applexy and costargh are interested in my services. I'm probably more suited to critiquing than writing exams, since I seem to have little free time on my hands of late.
-
I am going to postpone writing a legal exam until I have done my holiday homework. So I'll be out of action for a few weeks
-
I could do Bio 8)
touche lids. i'll chip into that too!
-
ill do a french one, but i duno how id go about the listening part..

6 months have passed and we're all been so busy hey!
Anyone who expressed an interest still interested in writing up exams???
I've finished the Legal Studies one and it is now in editing/reviewing stage
More information on that here
http://vcenotes.com/forum/index.php/topic,4024.0.html
Fyrefly, you still interested in editing? I'll also be asking for people to help in the construction of suggested solutions. They dontt have to be full typed up essays.
Just like for a 2 mark question
1 mark for explaining the separation of powers (brief explanation)
1 mark for identifying which bodies have the right to use these powers or something like that
Sneak peak
:P

oooH do you have "This page is blank." on a few of them?
it'll only be fair... :P
-
LOL... There aren't any 'this page is blank' pages sorrryyyyy. saving the trees what can i say.
I would love it if we could put a snazzy logo in the top left corner instead of what is currently there. the big cloud.... oh and just suggestion for enwiabe... to have the website down the bottom of all exams in the footer. like Copyright VCE Notes pblah blah... www.vcenotes.com
Free VCE Notes, resouces and forums
-
I already have a coversheet that I made for my MM prac 1, so we won't be using yours. You'll see the finished product. :)
-
Lol ok. It better be snazzy.
:P
Im big on the snaz factor

Oh damn it, I was going to suggest my logo that I made like 3 centuries ago for the site...it looked relatively snazzy... :D
ah well...enwiabe yours better be good :)
-
which logo was that ice blockie?
Can we see the cover sheet enwiabe? lol *hyperventilating*
-
Also, I will be writing IT papers. Quantity depends on how much time I get while I'm working.

Do you think you'll have time to do both Apps and Software exams? If you do it will be much much much appreciated.
-
There doesn't seem to be enough activity in the SD forums (I count two people) to justify spending a lot of time writing a SD exam. I will do it if I have time, but it's my lowest priority.
-
Yeah, I'll still have a read-through costargh, if you'd like me to.

Ok cool. PM me your email
Ill elaborate more on my areas of concern in the email and ill attach the file
