Title: iSnack 2.0
Post by: dekoyl on September 29, 2009, 05:22:48 pm
iSnack 2.0

That's the name you will see when you're at your local supermarket, browsing for a jar of the new Vegemite.

Any thoughts on this i-prefix business?
Awesome name? Catchy name? Ridiculous name? Is it the key to expanding the Vegemite audience?

Will be interested to see how much of a fuss Apple makes about the name.
Also, worst name ever (or is that the plan to get publicity)

It was voted on by the Australian public wasn't it? I guess there's a moral to this story if so. iFail would've been much more appropriate at this rate.

No, the Australian public suggested names on the website from which board members chose a name.

bad name, suits a bad product :crazy2:

btw. the whole "i" thing is sorta going weird, and becoming boring. We have sort of come to accept anything with "i" as something techological, or something got to do with apple, now its being ripped off for a range of stuff.

Meet the new "isnack"!

This cool new invention can't play songs, can't play videos, can't make phone calls and can't go on the Internet, but, it will give you a belly ache to remember.

Not that I have tried this but it sounded cool.

*I'm writing this on my iPhone!

haha, i was right. This extract from The Age
''They are taking the 'i' that is associated with the iPod and 2.0, which is a term for the web. So what does any of that have to do with a food product?''<<<exactly what I was trying to get across.

It appeals to the younger generation.

But it still won't make me buy it.

Doesn't appeal to the younger generation at all. It even goes further, people hate it for trying to so explicitly appeal to our generation.

It is when you pair it with a spoon. And no, I did not factor in the sense of taste in proposing this alternative, but my point is still valid.

Ick, nast. This isn't nutella. D: But then again, it's funny when people who know nothing about vegemite first taste it by spreading copious amounts of bread/crackers.

hahaha we had exchange students from japan who'd never tasted vegemite before - we gave them crackers with a thin spread of vegemite on top, to which they replied, "mm, delicious!".. however when we got back to our classroom, they all congregated together and you could hear in japanese, "that vegemite tasted so bad!"
i've always wondered why most foreigners don't seem to like it much. perhaps it's an acquired taste

I guess it could have been?

At first i said as if! But if you think about it,
the name was chosen by people (so designer doesnt get paid thousands)
the isnack2.0 is still being sold until they run out (so they don't lose thousands in profits)
