Title: How does Further Maths Modules work???
Post by: unicorn34 on August 04, 2011, 07:55:40 pm
Modules are certain chapters of work? correct?
If so, because each school does different modules, how does the exam work when everyone has done different kind of modules?
Which modules are the easiest?
Please explain

Yes, each module has different chapters. There are 6 modules where you have to choose 3 from.
Business Maths
Geometrey
Graphs and Relations
Number Patterns
Matrices
Networks
CORE <- EVERYONE HAS TO DO IT.

In both exams there will be 4 sections which will compromise for each module you choose. Exam 1 its 40  multiple choice for all of your modules and exam 2 its extended response for all of your modules.

What if in the exam you do 4 modules instead of 3? Does the fourth one back you up in any way?
e.g... in 1 of your module you only get 5 marks and in the other 3 you get over 5 marks, what would happen?

and which modules are easiest?

Ease wise I would say
Graphs and Relations (just watch out for constraints)
Matrices
Business maths

You can do all 6 modules if you want, but only 3 will count. Just do 3 and check over them properly.

If you do too many modules, VCAA will get mad at you, and probably choose to disadvantage you. So don't do it, but you may do different modules to the ones your school is doing, but I wouldn't advise it unless you are really good and really confident in that area.

To be honest I am not sure, but i presume the assesors will marks the modules which they see first. If they see 3 modules they wont even bother going to look through the rest of the paper.

You can't do more than three because there is only space for three in the MC section :)
