I was just wondering whether I am still able to achieve a 40+ despite the fact that in my SAC's I'm averaging about 75% (whereby the average is probably 60%). Do you think I would have to annihilate the exam (A+) to get a 40+ or would that not even be enough?

Annihilating the exams always helps

It depends on your rank. If you are ranked high and then score an A+ on your exam, then you can definitely get a 40+.
Your rank is more important than your actual score, as some schools will give harder sacs and others will give much easier.

Ohh, that's not too great then. Even though I'm fairly above average, there's about 3 or 4 exceptional students that are beating me. So at about rank 5 do you think I will be ok? :-\

If those students ranked above you are 'exceptional' then you'll be fine. Dont worry too much aobut your sac marks - your ranking is more important as stated above. :)

Ok thanks heaps guys - that's really good to know that a few bad marks haven't ruined my chances :D
Cheers!

It depends which school you go to as well. If you have only As so far on your sacs, unless it is an elite school, I wouldn't put my bets on anything above a 43. If it is Melbourne High/Grammar/Mac Rob/Haileybury, you still have a good chance though.
If you are getting 75% on SACS - my guess is you make quite a lot of silly mistakes, not that it is with the actual maths? If this is true, then you definitely will blow your chances of getting an A+ on Paper 1.
Keep in mind, this is raw scores. Your Methods score should scale over this quite nicely.
