www.chemicaldetectives.com
This program is a database of spectrums. There are over 100 unknowns in the database, each compound has an IR spectrum, mass spectrum, proton (high res and low res) NMR spectrum, carbon-13 NMR spectrum as well as %composition (microanalysis). Use these data to work out molecular structure.
Excellent practice, recommended for all chemistry students. More details for downloading on the website [updated as of earlier this month].
Download links:
http://www.chemicaldetectives.com/Download_Software.html - download the chemical detectives workshops
http://joule.ni.com/nidu/cds/view/p/id/1101/lang/en - download the LabView software to run the workshops, requires registration. If you *really* don't want to register or can't figure out how, PM me and I'll let you use my passwords, but you better convince me you've tried and can't do it.

Note: This program is also useful for first year chemistry, however, VCE students should try not to get carried away with all the unknowns on there, the majority are BEYOND the level of VCE. Don't stress if some crazy molecule trips you out, extra brownie points if you can do them all :)
Have fun =]

wow thanks :P
-
Yes, great program. Good practice and it's well made.

thanks so much Mao. You are a legend.
-
nice site mao, very fun :)
-
Thank you very much, Mao. Something new for me to play with.
-
sorry to revive the thread but I installed the program onto Windows 7 and it doesn't seem to work - is this because the program only runs on Windows XP and VISTA ? :-\
-
Thanks Mao. i"m so going to check this out sometime!
-
Stickied.
This program helped me so much.
-
Thanks Mao! Very cool program =]
-
this website is similar to the program
http://www.rsc.org/Education/teachers/learnnet/spectra/index2.htm
click problems in the webpage
-
;D ;D ;D ;D Thankyou!!!!!!!!
-
Update: just realised the thing didn't have the download links. Links are now up there, downloading should really only take a few clicks, note that the second link does require registration. If you really don't want to register [or can't figure out how], you better come up with a good email/pm and convince me I should let you use my password.
That is all.

Wicked, will download in the morning.
Thanks!
-
my program doesnt work i cant even write the molecule name and all that comes up is error7
how can i actually get it 2 work????????
-
I think it's the time of the year again when people are slowly moving onto NMR and the fun stuff.
Re-stickied for effects.
-
mine comes up with error 7 as well!! how do i get it to work!
-
Appreciate the link!
-
THANK-YOU SO MUCH!!!!!
-
Doesn't work for windows 7...
-
Thanks Mao! This is great!

The second link is fine. You will need to however register with National Instruments to access the downloads.
You kids might want to organise a community account with a shared username and password.
-
Never mind. It works.
I just sped through the registration form, not noticing a confirmation email.
-
This is awesome <3, tough, but awesome :)
-
Do you think somebody would ever post false notes in order to jeopardize my vce? ARGH all the study is making me paranoid
Um... Wrong thread. And secondly, if you make your own notes too, and only use other people's notes for cross-referencing and additions, then that won't be an issue :)
-
I have a Mac... How do I do this...? :(
-
BUMP! For those who don't know of this program yet, it is really helpful for NMR practice! :D
Get on it!
-
I have no idea how to work it :/
