Title: quick and easy unit 2 question

1) (do this question using matrices)
in a factory, two types of components are processed on two separate machines. The respective processing times on the first machine are 18 minutes and 21 mins, while for the second machine the times are 4 mins and 42 mins. How many of each type of component should be processed in an 8 hour shift so that both machines are fully occupied.

hint: write two simultaneous linear equations first, then juat plug in the info into matrices format.


18x + 21y = 8*60 = 480

4x + 48y = 480

[18,21;4,48]*[x;y]=[480;480]

[x;y]=[18,21;4,48]^(-1)*[480;480]

i havnt got a calculator with me  some one please correct me if im wrong.
