Title: Trigonometry question (from Essentials book)
Post by: #1procrastinator on October 21, 2011, 11:29:51 am
From Exercise 14B, question 12 (there's a diagram)

A light aircraft flying at a height of 500m above the ground is sighted by an observer stationed at a point O on the ground, measured to be 1km from the plane. The aircraft is travelling

I got 127.94 degrees for b) but not sure if it's correct or not cause the book's solution appears to be incorrect (something around 215 degrees). And 4.97 degrees for c) rather than 6.56 degrees

Is this right?

For part b. i got ~215.64
and part c. ~6.59.
Which leads me to believe the book is correct. Its a pretty hard question for further.
If you share your workings I can point out where you went wrong.

I got it now, I didn't take into account 'BEARING' and also error with the distance, I added the distance travelled in 1 minute to some other number for some reason haha
