I keep getting confused with the questions that include "the end of the third day" and "the start of the second day". I don't know whether to take the third day or the fourth day
Eg some questions:
Q - It is estimated that the trees in an orchard contain 48000 kg of fruit. Each day 3000 kg of fruit is picked from the trees.
How many kg's of fruit remain on the trees at the end of the second day?
I assumed you take the third day as the end of the second day as it's the start of the third day, but the answer just took the second day ... pls explain
Also VCAA 2006 exam 2 questions 3b and c.
Thankss,

Isn't the start of the 3rd day the end of the second day? I mean it should always be 42,000 kg regardless unless you're looking at it in a different way? Does anyone know the difference equation for it or is it just a simple calculate ans-3000 x 2?

VCAA 2006 for qs B
B.
Notice in the question how it says 'evening' and 'afternoon' and in question b it says 'morning of day 4'
Pretty sure you just use what you got for the end of the 3rd day
so that would be:
Vn + 1 = rVn + d where V1 = 45 000 litres.
day 1 = .9x45000 + 2000
= 42500
day 2 = .9x42500 + 2000
= 40250
day 3 = .9x40250 + 2000
= 38225
Answer = 38225
