Can anyone help me out with Question 7 on the vcaa 2007 exam 1 paper in geometry?
The answer I keep getting doesnt seem to be any of the choices
is it meant to be:
Total surface area of cylinder - hemisphere TSA - area of the circle on the lid?

I think you're referring to q6 as q7 is about a rod within a cube. For q6 you are basically meant to calculate the TSA of the REMAINING section of the cylinder after removing the hemisphere. So the answer I believe would be TSA=SA of half a sphere + SA of cylinder - A of circle
