Title: How I got 2 as minimum no.of zero in VCAA 2011 matrices q9
Post by: j4st_an2 on November 04, 2011, 07:57:21 pm
Gotta use th   Matrix identity form. >>  1 0 0          1  1     use 1s or any other number. as element in matrix B. TRIAL AND ERROR
                                                              0 1 0    X    1  1
                                                              0 0 0          1  1

really it doesnt matter which rows you put matrix A's  1's in, its just whether you should use them both in one row or in different ones, only two trials required surprisingly
im still pretty sure theres a quicker way than that though, somehow

i did trial and error, putting 2 1's in each row then putting individual 1's in 2 rows. i had 50 minutes leftover in the exam so i had time and out of the combinations i did 2 was the minimum. im sure theres probably a more mathematical and faster way though.

what happened to the seven elements are zero it didnt make sense? a 3x3 matrix?

there are 9 elements in a 3x3 matrix, 7 of these elements are 0

This is one of the 2 questions I derped, I accidentally put 8 0's in the 3 by 3 matrix instead of 7, wasn't thinking straight at all, fairly disappointed. So because of this, I got D = 4 instead.

little mistakes like that are so costly in further
that's literally like study score minus one, just because of that

yeah I did what the OP did, but I used x's instead of 1's

I did the same for the goat question as well!
