Do you mean 'chief assessor'? I don't think there is a 'chief examiner', I think all the exam writers have the same status (I could be wrong).

Hard question too, this position rotates more frequently than most other subjects for some reason...

I believe it is Bob Hillman!

Although adding onto what pi has said just because he's the chief assessor doesn't mea. that he is a good tutor, there's much more than credentials, their ability to connect and how well they explain things, amongst many other factors, are more important than whether they are the chief assessor or not, but I defs would recommend a vcaa assessor

Moderator action: removed real name, sorry for the inconvenience

Hire Tim Winton, far more superior than the Chief Assessor.

Not the most reliable source

It's actually decently reliable, rate my teachers, although you do get a slanted view, people are more likely to rate if they have negative views about a teacher rather than if they have positive views, and you rarely get the balance, it's usually a very biased opinion :S

LOL are you serious ratemyteachers ? Apparently Justin Beiber, Michael Clark, Bugs Bunny, Zac Efron (boy must be mad to work at a girls' school) and Lastnight's Analpain work at my school.
Really, ratemyteachers?
Its as credible as Wikipedia. Apparently I have a friend (who plays tennis) that won against Serena Williams.

Oh and my favourite teacher apparently "demonstrated his extraterrestrial nature to the class when he drank a beaker full of cyanide - and survived!"

Look, either way, as long as you get a decent tutor, one that you like and explains everything to you- you should be fine. Remember, YOU have to walk into that exam, not your tutor.

ITS ROBERT/BOB HILLMAN OF TRINITY GRAMMAR. AND NO DON'T GET HIM. We had him as a lecturer for Context at Camberwell Grammar, we weren't very impressed with what we saw. Hire EvangelionZeta or Shinny?

Out of curiosity, what was so bad about Bob?

This is just my opinion but, yes he is a good teacher, but he goes beyond the course in the sense that attempts to teach you how to think worldly and think back your childhood and stuff, he is purely idea driven, little to no help when it came to structure of essays and approach to them. When looking for a tutor you are looking for someone that will help improve you expression and structure, maybe vocab. Very little of it actually comes down to generation of ideas, that can't really be taught. Therefore in this case he's not the man for the job.

Yep, I get you there, I didn't have a tutor for English and I think it was the structure and how to write good introductions and that which killed me in the end :S
