Hey guys, i've been making heaps of topics lately for questions but i'm gonna limit myself to posting them only here.
If i was required to describe a human resource strategy that could be used to recruit the best applicants, aside from job description and job specifications, could i use interviews?
Thanks.
-
not just interviews, use the entire selection process which includes interviews, looking at background of employees, conducting tests, see if they meet the set criteria. interviews are part of the selection process which is a strategy.
-
Ah right, so i'd probably be better off sticking to job descriptions and job specifications if i needed to list 2 HR strategies.
Thanks!
-
Yes, interviews would be good cause it allows managers to determine whether the applicant has the suitable skills and if they would fit in with the culture of the organisation. This is a part of the selection process though.
You could also use HR planning. This might be better cause it is done before recruitment. This allows managers to determine current and future personnel needs and allows them to plan ahead as well.

Great idea. Whenever i have a question regarding HR strategies i always freak out cause i've never been sure which are strategies and which aren't. :'( That's why i like questions about Quality management, Materials management etc. :)
-
Well the main strategies are the ones in the maintenance stage. Interviews ARE a strategy, it's just in the selection stage which happens after recruitment so it wouldn't be the best one to choose.
I hate quality management because the best one to talk about is TQM but I tend to get carried away answering questions so I end up writing essay-long answers when talking about TQM... It's horrible.
And my Kotter's? Takes up around 4 pages... :S

Dam, the examiners gonna hate giving you like 20 script books tomorrow... ::)
-
Also, anyone know of an easy service organisation to use for describing the elements of operations management - inputs, processes, outputs.
There's a question of it on the 07 exam and i can't think of an easy service organisation...
-
Yeah I've gotten into the habit of writing my answers off the lines on each side just to get a little more writing space... Doesn't really help that my writing is quite big...
A hairdresser? Inputs: hairdresses, client, scissors, whatever. Processes: cutting hair, washing hair, ect. Outputs: this is what I've always struggled with...

Sexy with a fancy hair-do?
-
Hahaha! It might not necessarily be fancy. Not sure sexy would apply to everyone either...
-
Comb-over is both sexy and fancy... ???
-
Well of course! You were talking about comb-overs? You should have said so! No doubt about their sexiness or fanciness at all. The best of the best right there.
-
Rofl, talking about hair-cuts the day before the exam...Ultimate procrastination.
-
Hahaha! We are being quite productive aren't we?
