Title: Contention for language analysis piece [cartoon]

hi everyone,

I'm doing a language analysis and i'm having trouble finding the contention for this image, can anyone help me out?

Can you give us some information on the context of the cartoon in question. What was the article it accompanied about?

That said, at a glance it would appear to be arguing that schools are indoctrinating kids to be politically 'correct', rather than teaching them to be able to do correct math, which the author presumably thinks is ironic maybe even humorous. Also note the exaggerated height difference between the teacher and the student, the poor posture of the student, and the facial expressions of each as possible things to analyse.

This a pretty awful image to be given for analysis though imo.

+1, its trying to be corny and has very little to analyse.

I think what dilks said is correct, but furthermore, I'd look at the broader message too, that is that the facial expression of the teacher can be juxtaposed with the question, showing how "politically correctness" has either lost its meaning, or has become too mainstream and dominant on the modern times (or "younger generation" symbolised by the child).


edit: its hard to say much more without knowing the context in which the image was published (ie. an accompanying article or something)
