Title: Which chapters?

Hi which chapters are important for spesh or related to 3/4 spesh? :)

Mainly the topics covered in Unit 2. These are: Sketching/Interpreting linear and non-linear graphs, vectors, kinematics, statics and possibly trigonometric ratios and their applications.

It sounds like you're not undertaking GMA this year. Many schools require you undertake the subject in order to get into the Specialist classes, so if you're planning to just study it on your own you might not get in. If this is the case, you're going to need very high grades for Methods (80% minimum) and it would be very beneficial if you were able to transfer into Unit 2. Having Physics may also be a very slight help in arguing your case.

I'm doing gma but just that I want to know which parts are more important since some won't be appear in Spesh and some might relate to further3/4 ... Thanks btw, so unit 1 is not as important as unit2? Of course doing gma is more safe than skipping gma

LOOK IN THE RESOURCES THREAD, THERE IS A SECTION FOR THIS EXACT QUESTION FOR A REASON!!!!!!

Topics in GMA Relevant for Specialist Maths
• Vectors
• Algebra (also draw from Methods knowledge)
• Quadratics and rates (also in Methods 1+2 textbooks)
• Partial Fractions
• Complex Numbers (i, cis, z=x+yi, de Moivre's, etc.)
• Dynamics (forces, equilibrium, coefficient of friction, etc.)
• Kinematics (displacement, velocity, acceleration, etc.)
• Loci (and associated graphs)
• Trig (rules, identities and graphs)
• Angles (all those rules and circle geometry -none of the 'bisecting a line with a protractor' rubbish though)
• Shapes (volumes, surface areas, ratios, 3D vs 2D, etc.)
